Eleanor Olivieri

After 101 years on this earth, Eleanor Olivieri left this world on June 7, 2023, to reunite with her be- loved husband, Henry Olivieri, her parents, Frances and Stanley Jopek, and her siblings Henry and Loretta Jopek.

She is survived by her children David Olivieri, Linda Olivieri (William Chenoweth), Maryjane Simpson (Ted) and Ruthanne Kaleta (John), her grandchildren Katie, Ellen, Adam, Megan, Oliver and Lauren and great grandchildren Mia, Miguel, Boone and Beau.

Eleanor was born in Forestville and lived in Western NY her whole life. She worked at Cease’s Commissary where she met her husband after WWII.

Eleanor was a devoted wife, mother and beloved Grammie encouraging her children to pursue higher education and happily preparing feasts for family gatherings.

She was an unofficial social worker, graciously assisting numerous elderly relatives to obtain housing, groceries, health care and funeral arrangements as they aged.

Eleanor was an avid, proficient and enthusiastic gardener and reader.

As a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, she served in various roles including as a Eucharistic Minister.

She made quilts for needy families in her 80’s. The homes of her family and friends are rich with her recipes, quilts, needlework, knitting, crocheting and crafts. And family gardens thrive with her shared flowers including her favorite, forget- me- nots.

Eleanor’s funeral mass will be at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Monday June 12 at 10:00 a.m. No flowers, please.
