Study needed on delays, noise

I have a question. Has anyone complained about the noise from the wonderful roundabout?

I have another question. Has there been any noise studies or traffic studies since this has been put in?

I live near it and I have to drive through it in order to get to and from work. In the morning if I don’t get to the roundabout before 7:20, when school is in session, it gets backed up due to the buses and people coming in to the school on Route 20. The traffic coming off of Route 60 on the south end, is backed up past Concord Pharmacy.

At 4:45 p.m., Route 20 is backed up to the Masonic Lodge and 60 is backed up to Walmart.

The noise is constant until about 7:30 p.m. And on the weekends it is pretty much all day. The motorcycles racing and the horns blaring because people don’t know how to drive the roundabout can give you a headache! Oftentimes I can hear the semis trying to stop when they realize traffic has slowed. And when they take the roundabout, they take the full roundabout. They have to use both lanes — and if you aren’t aware of it, you may get squashed.

I know we can never stop people from having road rage. And I know we cannot prevent people from driving recklessly or poorly.

In my opinion, the roundabout is not the answer to problems with that intersection. A median or a guardrail would be a good idea to stop the people making left hand turns on to Route 60. This has not changed the way people drive.

When they close the Thruway for any reason, it is nuts. I can’t even get in or out of my driveway.

Just a question. A thought. I really have not heard much about it in a while. I certainly have not hear anyone bring up the noise. Maybe they don’t care. Or maybe they think it is better than what we had before. I don’t know.

What I do know is I didn’t ever want that lousy roundabout. Every single problem I thought would happen, did. I didn’t think about the noise, however.
