Editor, OBSERVER: A recent opinion piece “We must open our eyes to Mideast wrongs” (Sept. 25) is poorly conceived. The suggestion that the Native Americans lacked disease because of a “human right to clean water” is silly. Europeans had more exposure to deadly diseases because of their proximity to the mammals they domesticated such as the cow and sheep, not because of Native sanitation methods. Community should cherish entertainment at SUNY Editor, OBSERVER: Wow! I saw a video on Facebook and thought if they are as good as they look on the post, I want to be there. I was not disappointed. I was elated! The Doo-Wop Project last month at the Rockefeller Arts Center on the State University of New York at Fredonia campus was fantastic! The show was filled with great music and songs that just brought back great memories. The group as a whole were outstanding and individually they showed unique talent. Centers overstep educational boundaries Editor, OBSERVER: These comments are in response to an article in the OBSERVER headlined, “Calming centers in schools.” The bill is proposed by state lawmaker Shantel Jackson. The Democrat recently introduced the bill to have a calming space for students — a space to pray, meditate or otherwise calm themselves. Editor, OBSERVER: Given the unsettled political landscape, maybe it’s time to consider a second American Revolution. Both parties offer seriously flawed candidates — regardless of who wins we’ll be faced with major challenges. Among them, border security, NATO membership, support for Israel and Ukraine, gun control measures, and reducing deficit spending. It seems to me “we the people” get steamrolled year after year by self-serving politicians seeking to maintain their privileged lifestyle.
