Thirty years ago — 1991

The “Chautauqua Experience” is being featured in this summer’s issue of “Victorian Homes” magazine. The 17-page article contains many large color photographs of the area, the people and the buildings. The article not only talks about Chautauqua Institution, but also discusses the cottages, the inns and the lifestyle there today.

Forty years ago — 1981

All this month, Pucci’s Carpets and Furniture is holding a grand opening for its carpeting department in its new location at 112 West Main St., Fredonia, the former Mitchell Foods Inc. building which formerly housed the Good Seed Co. Pucci’s World of Carpets was formerly located at 50-52 West Main St. in Fredonia, where the store was first opened in April 1972 by Ron Pucci and his father, Carl, who owned the delicatessen.

Fifty years ago — 1971

David Nichols, 17, has been chosen as Student of the Week. He is a senior at Fredonia Central School and the son of Mrs. Doris Nichols of Porter Avenue, Fredonia.
