Thirty years ago — 1991

Red and white, the colors of Poland, were prominent in St. Hyacinth’s Church at the recent 25th anniversary Mass celebrating the ordination of the Rev. Donald S. Fafinski. In attendance was his mother, Mrs. Emily Fafinski of Dunkirk, who just turned 80. Father Fafinski, in his closing remarks, stated he celebrated his first Mass 25 years ago on May 29 at St. Hyacinth’s Church.

Forty years ago — 1981

Mrs. Daryl Spacc of Fredonia was honored by the New York State Jayncees and inducted into the NYS Raintree Society. The society gives life membership to women who have given outstanding service to the Jayncees. Mrs. Spacc is a member of Chapter 83 and the first Fredonia Jayncee ever to be given this honor.

Fifty years ago — 1971

Kevin Belote, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Belote, 57 Main St., Forestville is the Student of the Week. He is a senior in electrical trades at the BOCES North Area Occupational Center.
