Thirty years ago — 1992

David G. Dawson, Chautauqua County’s pioneer director of development and executive director of the Industrial Development Agency, plans to retire at the end of February 1993. He will have served in county government for 20 years. Currently, he also is acting county executive who takes over as head of government when Andrew Goodell is out of the county. Additionally, he serves as vice chairman of the Private Industry Council.

Forty years ago — 1982

Fredonia’s Claudine Safar received a plaque for placing 14th in the 7-9 age category in the National Standard Race ski program sponsored by a national soft drink company. She participated in the local NASTAR program at the Cockaigne Ski Center in Cherry Creek. Claudine is the daughter of Drs. Josef and Zdenka Safar.

Fifty years ago — 1972

The Rev. Roger W. Cowan, former pastor of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Floversville, is the new pastor of the Forestville Baptist Church.
