Thirty years ago — 1992

The Almost New Consignment Store, located at 629 Brigham Road, Dunkirk and owned by Pat Layman, recently held its grand opening. Besides holding a pink tag sale, cash prizes went to lucky winners Karen Eichelberg ($25), Helen Nalepa ($15) and Judy Artise ($10).

Forty years ago — 1982

Two longtime sales employees of the New York Store in Dunkirk, Anthony “Tony” Dubiel and Werner “Dutch” Kuhfuss, were honored during the 75th anniversary of the store. Mr. Kuhfuss has been with the firm since 1927. He was a full-time employee until 1972 and a part time employee since then.

Fifty years ago — 1972

“Bonanza,” the second longest-running television Western series, has been canceled. After 14 years, the final episode will air in January.
