OBSERVER Staff Report
Morgan Mathis’ four aces and nine kills helped the North Collins Lady Eagles (2-2, 3-3) sweep the Fredonia Lady Hillbillies (2-2, 2-4), 25-16, 25-16, 25-19, Thursday in non-league girls high school volleyball.
McKenna Williams contributed in the win with two aces and 17 assists while Irene Mancuso finished with six kills. Baylee Romano had five aces in the win.
The Lady Hillbillies’ top threat was Mackenzie Markham, who finished with four aces and two blocks. Ashley Atzrott charted 10 digs while Lianna DiRusso had four kills in defeat.
“It was a good back-and-forth match,” Fredonia coach Amanda Krakowiak said. “Our girls struggled getting past 15 points. North Collins did a great job serving. We had a hard time getting points off our serve.”
Fredonia returns to action Tuesday at Gowanda.
