Fredonia, Geneseo play scoreless tie

Special to The OBSERVER

GENESEO — In a game that saw the two teams combine for just 15 shots total, Fredonia State and Geneseo played to a 0-0 tie in SUNYAC men’s soccer Friday.

The two goalkeepers, Fredonia State’s Ty Bentham and Geneseo’s Will Price, made four and two saves, respectively. It was the second shutout of the season for Bentham, a senior, and his 14th as a collegian.

There were few dangerous scoring changes in a game between two teams vying for the sixth — or better — conference playoff berth. They are both 1-3-1 in the SUNYAC, good for four points. The current sixth-place team, New Paltz, has six points. Right behind the Blue Devils (5-6-3 overall) and Knights (5-6-1 overall) are Potsdam and Brockport, with three points each.

Fredonia State visits Brockport on Saturday afternoon.
