Another no-no for Gotowka

DUNKIRK — Ashley Gotowka continued her record-breaking season on Thursday, tossing her third no-hitter to lead Dunkirk (7-3, 5-2) to an 8-0 win over Allegany-Limestone in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West softball.

The senior struck out 16 batters, with two reaching base after being hit by pitches, and was 3 for 4 at the plate with two singles and a double.

“She’s really starting to become comfortable in the circle,” head coach Michelle Gilmour said. “I’m extremely proud of her. She went through a little bit of a rough patch, but she worked through it and I’m proud of her. She’s a senior captain and she is a fantastic well-rounded player. Her hitting is coming at the right time.”

Rachel Glowniak added a single and a double with three RBIs, Gina Salerno was 3 for 4 with three singles, while Emily Pacheco had a single and a double in the win.

Kortney Magara had four strikeouts for Allegany-Limestone.

Dunkirk will welcome Fredonia for a game at 11 a.m. Saturday.

FREDONIA RALLIES FOR WIN

FREDONIA — Maddy Marsh pitched a gem and Sarah Davis scored the winning run on an error to a cap a three-run rally in the seventh inning as Fredonia edged Falconer, 3-2, in a Division 1 West game.

Erin Schrantz started the decisive rally with a leadoff double and Jenna Truby singled. Davis followed with a two-run single and Marsh reached first on an infield single. A sacrifice bunt by Lila Cameron moved the runners up a base and Jordan Lucas followed with a grounder between third and short, but the throw to first was wild and Davis scampered home with the winning run.

Marsh gave up four hits and two runs in the first inning, but allowed just one hit after that.

Kayla Lynn and Ashton Beckerink, who had a two-out, two-run single, pitched for Golden Falcons.

The victory raised the Hillbillies’ record to 8-0 in the overall and 7-0 in the division. It came in stark contrast to their first meeting with Falconer, a game Fredonia won, 17-10. The Golden Falcons, meanwhile, fell to 5-2 in the division.
