Dunkirk/Fredonia/Forestville tops P/MG/CL

DUNKIRK — Dunkirk/Fredonia/Forestville held its final home Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association boys swimming and diving meet of the season Tuesday at the Dunkirk High School Pool, the only meet held there this year.

D/F/F won the meet with a score of 106-58 as the 200-yard medley relay team of Matthew Dunn, Trenton Krenzer, Adam Fred and Steven Zenta qualified for the Section VI championships with a winning time of 1:53.83.

Fred continued his impressive collection of sectional times with a 2:15.05 to win the 200-yard individual medley and a 52.46 in the 100-yard freestyle to take second place.

Dunn secured Class B championship spots with a second-place showing of 2:21.52 in the 200-yard individual medley and a winning time of 1:04.32 in the 100-yard butterfly, his first time in the event all season.

Zentz scored Class B times with his second-place 25.33 in the 50-yard freestyle and a winning time of 5:55.37 in the 500-yard freestyle.

Seventh-grader Trenton Krenzer got his first Class B time as he won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:16.26.

David Marshall set a new Panama/Maple Grove/Chautauqua Lake 1-meter diving record with a six-dive score of 296.55.

RJ Helt was a double winner for the Panthers, taking first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.61) and 100-yard freestyle (49.58).

The meet also marked D/F/F’s Senior Night. Graduating in June will be Zentz, Sebastian DeGolier and Jocelyn Bowers.
