Gators down Marauders
The Allegany-Limestone Gators defeated the Dunkirk Marauders in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West girls basketball action this past Saturday.
Despite the loss, Dunkirk played one of its best games of the season, according to head coach Quinn Bankoski. Ana Rodriguez Otero helped the Marauders take a lead in the first quarter as she hit three 3-pointers in the period. Rodriguez Otero added one more 3-pointer in the game as she led the Marauders in scoring with 18 points.
A poor performance in the second quarter put the Marauders behind the Gators at halftime 21-14. While Dunkirk picked its scoring back up in the third, it was unable to slow down Allegany-Limestone as it scored 19 points in the third quarter and coasted the win in the fourth.
Gianna DeRose led the Gators with 18 points, Maddie Callen scored 14 points and Emily Lippert added 13 points.
