BUFFALO — The last time Zed Williams was on the field for the Colorado Mammoth at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo he was raising the National Lacrosse League Championship after defeating the Buffalo Bandits in Game 3 of the championship series 10-8.

In that final game, the Silver Creek Central School graduate showed he has the special stuff that only the best of the best athletes have, rising to the occasion to score four goals and assist on two more to clinch the title. Williams finished the series with 21 points in the three games as Colorado captured its first title since 2006.

On Saturday, Williams was back in the building where he reached the pinnacle of box lacrosse and he picked up right where he left off last June. In the championship rematch, Williams netted two goals and picked up three assists as the Mammoth came back for a 13-8 victory over the Bandits.

Williams scored the Mammoth’s only goal in the first quarter, which the Bandits led 4-1. In the second quarter, the rest of the Mammoth got in on the action with Ty Thompson scoring twice and Connor Robinson registering the first of his three goals. Eli McLaughlin posted the inverse of Williams’ stat line, scoring three times and picking up two assists.

With the victory the Mammoth improve to 6-6 overall. After Saturday’s contest, Williams now has 22 goals and 19 assists for 41 points in 11 games. Colorado is back in action next weekend against the Vancouver Warriors.
