Hornets post volleyball win
FORESTVILLE — The Forestville volleyball team downed Dunkirk 4-1 by scores of 25-18, 26-24, 13-25, 25-17 in nonleague action on Friday.
Forestville (3-8, 2-8 CCAA West 2) was led by Kaitie LoManto with three kills, 15 assists, seven aces and a dig; Carilene Sliwa had 12 kills, an assist, two blocks, four aces and three digs; and Justice Yarborough added three kills, an assist and two aces.
Forestville next plays Westfield on Monday in its annual Spike Out Cancer game. Starting at 5 p.m. there will be a basket raffle and a bake sale.
Dunkirk (0-12, 0-8 CCAA West 1) was led by Yuleisy Cruz had two kills, three assists, nine aces and two digs; Ryleigh Donato had two kills and two aces, and Brooke Szymczak two kills, an assists and two aces.
TIMBERWOLVES SWEEP BROCTON
BROCTON — Cattaraugus-Little Valley swept Brocton in three sets by scores of 25-10, 25-16, 25-23 for a nonleague victory.
Carly Preston powered the Timberwolves (9-2, 6-2 CCAA East) with four aces, six kills, seven digs and two blocks; Kadie Benzel had three kills, seven digs and five assists; and Joslyn Harris added 20 digs.
Brocton (4-6, 0-5 CCAA West 2) was led by Grace Lundin with seven digs and an ace; Lily Zappie contributed two kills, three digs and an ace; and Zoe Spiller added two kills, an assist, a block and two digs.
RED DRAGONS TOP JHS
BEMUS POINT — After dropping the first set, Maple Grove won three in a row to defeat Jamestown in nonleague play 3-1 by the scores 23-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-15.
The Red Dragons (5-5, 4-4 CCAA West 2) were led by Harper Dawes with 11 kills, two blocks and four digs; Hannah Benson contributed two aces, 10 kills and 15 digs; Hayley Johnson delivered two aces, eight kills, six digs and four blocks; Lily Benedetto offered up two aces, two kills and 12 digs; Bayley Godfrey put up 25 assists and three aces; Ellery Yohe recorded 15 digs and Cady Rodgers added seven aces.
Leading Jamestown (1-9, 1-6 CCAA West 1) was Avery Salvaggio with a kills, 14 assists and six digs; Kaitlyn Kennedy recorded three kills and two blocks; and Grayson Bloomquist added a kill, 21 digs and two aces.
