FREWSBURG — Randolph’s Roan Kelly edged Frewsburg’s Juvenal Diaz-Cortes by 5 seconds to win Tuesday’s Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association boys cross country race at the Frewsburg Sports Complex.
Kelly finished in 16:37 while Dunkirk’s Hanan Mohammad won the girls race in 21:22, 43 seconds faster than second-place Gracyn Rowland of Randolph.

LEWIS, HALLBERG ARE WINNERS
Southwestern’s Emma Lewis took first place in 18:37 to lead the Trojans to a team victory with 29 points at Fredonia High School.
Jamestown’s girls were second with 31 points, led by second-place London Hamilton, and Fredonia/Westfield was third with 71 points.
Jamestown’s Stephen Hallberg won the boys race in 16:55 to lead the Red Raiders to the team victory with 22 points. Southwestern was second with 48 points, led by second-place Trey Faulk.

MAPLE GROVE BOYS, GIRLS PREVAIL
OLEAN — Ethan Verbosky finished first in 16:28 and Sean Verbosky was second to lead Maple Grove to a boys team victory with 21 points at Forness Park.
West Valley’s Olivia Harmony won the girls race in 19:23, but the Maple Grove girls were the team winners with 25 points.
Olean’s boys were second with 57 points, claiming the sixth-runner tie-breaker over West Valley.

Clymer/Sherman/Panama took first place in the girls race, followed by Gowanda. Salamanca and Silver Creek/Forestville were incomplete.
