GOWANDA — North Collins senior Derek Ebersole started his senior year in style Monday night.

But the rest of the Eagles didn’t give him much help.

Ebersole scored 42 points, but Gowanda beat North Collins 69-60 in season-opening nonleague boys basketball action.

Sophomore Trelin Warrior led the Panthers (1-0) with 21 points in his varsity debut and Quentin Centner added 17.

Gowanda outscored the Eagles 36-25 in the middle two quarters.
