SYRACUSE — The Jamestown boys basketball team has found its way into the top 30 of the New York State Sportswriters Association Class AA rankings.
The Red & Green — the new school nickname that was officially announced during Tuesday’s board of education meeting — could make another jump with continued success on the road later this week.
But it won’t be easy.
Fresh off a convincing Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 victory over Clarence over the weekend, Jamestown (9-1) will travel to 13th-ranked and league rival Frontier (8-0) on Thursday, followed by a trip to take on unbeaten Bishop Timon-St. Jude (9-0) of the Monsignor Martin Association on Saturday.
“It’s always tough to go on the road,” Red & Green coach Billy Miley said after the win over Clarence, “but when you have guys who like the challenge and like to be able to go in someone else’s place and play well. … Fortunately, we’ve done a pretty good job of that lately.”
