BJ’s wins CCHA A League; Wicked Glen holds on for ‘B’ title

BJ’s gathers after defeating 64 on the Rocks to claim the Chautauqua County Hockey Association A League championship at Steele Hall Arena.

There is a new team on top in the Chautauqua County Hockey Association in the A League.

BJ’s was up against defending champion and top-seed 64 on the Rocks and came away with a 6-2 victory for the league championships at Steele Hall Arena.

Leading the 3-seeded BJ’s was Joe Gerace with four goals and an assist in the championship game. Steve Gromala scored a goal with two assists, Jon Muck scored a goal, while Jeff Carlson, Ron Friend and Brian Wojcinski all had one assist. Kirk Harrison was the winning goalie for BJ’s.

64 on the Rocks was led by Justin Giles with a goal and assist, Alex Michalak scored once and Mike Burnett added an assist. Glenn Giles was in net for the loss.

B LEAGUE

It was a close contest in the B League finals, but the top-seed Wicked Glen came away with the championship defeating No. 4 Heenans 2-1.

A goal and an assist from Drew Carriero proved enough for Wicked Glen, while Dave Silagyi scored the other goal and Cody Williams added an assist.

Nate Williams closed the door in net to secure the championship for Wicked Glen.

Jeff Huyck scored Heenans only goal which was assisted by Jeff Jamieson. Nick Orlando was in net for Heenans.
