Thirty years ago — 1992 Dunkirk Mayor Margaret Wuerstle revealed that the Diocese of Buffalo has tentatively accepted an offer from the city of Dunkirk for the former Cardinal Mindszenty High School campus on Central Avenue. The whole deal, however, is contingent upon whether the city receives a $1.8 million grant being requested from the state Division for Youth to renovate the long-vacant high school building.
