Thirty years ago — 1992 Raymond and Diann Haney are newlyweds. On Dec. 1, they became millionaires. Mrs. Haney, the former Diann Herman of Silver Creek, and her husband claimed their share of Saturday’s $28.4 million Virginia Lotto jackpot today, the largest prize in the game’s history. Five winning tickets were sold, with each being worth about $5.6 million. The Haneys, who were married Nov. 4, didn’t plan to quit their jobs, although they want to use their winnings to start their own craft business. Thirty years ago — 1992 Merchants from the village of Fredonia got a first-hand look at how a Wal-Mart store will operate and what effect it will have on the community. A group of five Fredonia business owners traveled to the Wal-Mart store in Meadville, Pa., toured the facility and met with representatives of the Meadville Chamber of Commerce during the daylong event. Thirty years ago — 1992 Taylor Marie Bankoski, 18-month-old daughter of Robert and Tammy Bankoski of Dunkirk, recently participated in the National Prince and Princess Pageant held at the Taniment Resort in the Pocono Mountains.
