School Three students ‘give back’

Submitted Photo

Students in Mrs. Pam Pleszewski’s reading classes at Dunkirk School Three wanted to show the character trait “Caring” during the holiday season. The students decided to make holiday cards to send to a former Dunkirk School Three student, SSgt. Nate Novelli, who is stationed in Qatar. SSgt. Novelli, a former student and Dunkirk High School graduate, is serving time with the United States Air Force. Students in Pleszewski’s reading classes designed holiday cards and wrote personal messages thanking the soldiers for their dedication and time serving our country. They also sent hand-crafted Christmas trees which the soldiers could display to remind them they were being thought of during the holiday season. This special treat was well-received by the soldiers in SSgt. Novelli’s unit. Novelli stated, “The cards and special notes were truly a treat for us to receive during the holidays. The Christmas trees were all hung up in our unit and appreciated by everyone.”
