Dunkirk Senior Center lists coming events

Upcoming events have been announced by the Dunkirk Senior Center.

Tai Chi will start Tuesday and will meet at 3 p.m. for advanced members and 3:30 p.m. for beginners every Tuesday and Thursday at the Dunkirk Senior Center. Pinochle will start Monday at 1 p.m. and take place each Monday and Friday.

Line dancing will start Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 10 a.m.

Birthday lunches for August and September birthdays will be Wednesday, Sept. 30. Reservations should be made by Friday, Sept. 25.

A yard sale will be inside on Saturday, Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Applications also will be accepted for elections to the board of directors.

In addition, a newsletter for members is currently available. For more information, call the Senior Center at 366-7530.

Dunkirk police and fire chiefs on this week’s ‘City Speaks’

Vietnam veterans group meets Sunday

Chapter 459 of the Vietnam Veterans of America will be meeting at 11 a.m. Sunday at the John T. Murray VFW Post 1017 at 113 Deer St., Dunkirk. Social distancing and facial covering rules will apply.

Dunkirk American Legion Auxiliary to meet

Dunkirk Memorial American Legion Unit 62 Auxiliary monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. at Post 62, 211 Central Avenue. Dues for 2021 are now being accepted. Members are encouraged to attend and observe the New York State COVID-19 guidelines.

Willow Mission open on Monday

The Willow Mission, 601 Washington Ave., Dunkirk, will be open on Monday for food only from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pick up food at the parking lot door. No IDs are needed. Those attending must wear a mask.
