Man charged twice with DWI Sunday

PORTLAND – A Port-land man was charged twice with driving while intoxicated on the same night.

On Sunday, Rodney A. Austin, 26, of Route 20 was charged with DWI with a blood alcohol content of .08 by deputies. At 5:46 a.m. while Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies were handling another incident on Route 20 in the town of Portland, they observed Austin’s vehicle came to park directly in front of the sheriff’s patrol car.

Deputies recognized his vehicle from a previous DWI arrest in Brocton – Austin was stopped on Lake Avenue at 2:42 a.m. for having a loud exhaust and was found to be intoxicated.

As Austin exited his vehicle, deputies observed him to be in an intoxicated state and he was charged with DWI again. He was released on appearance tickets.

Woman charged after trying to hit minor with car

BEMUS POINT – A Bemus Point woman is facing charges after reportedly attempting to hit a minor with her car on July 25.

According to the New York State Police at Jamestown, troopers responded to a report of a domestic dispute. An investigation found Wendy Seastrum, 37, threw things at a minor victim and tried to hit her with her car.

Seastrum was charged with second-degree menacing and endangering the welfare of a child. She was processed and arraigned in Ellery Town court where she was sent to the Chautauqua County Jail.

Woman charged with assault after fight

CATTARAUGUS INDIAN RESERVATION – State Police at Collins responded to the Gowanda Urgent Care Center July 27 on the report of an assault. According to the victim, while at a party. Leanna Vanevery, 36, of Irving, struck her several times in the face before she blacked out.

Troopers were assisted by the Seneca Nation Mar-shall’s Office in locating Vanevery. Vanevery was charged with third-degree assault and will appear in the Brant Town Court at a later date.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

PORTLAND – Jacob D. Chelton, 31, of Brocton was charged with failure to use a designated lane and unlawful possession of marijuana Saturday. At 11:53 p.m. observed Chelton’s vehicle commit a lane violation on Route 20. During the traffic stop, Chelton was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was released on appearance tickets for Portland Town Court.

John R. McPherson, 42, of Attica was charged with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher and failure to keep right Sunday. At 2:07 a.m. deputies observed McPherson’s vehicle fail to keep right on Route 5 in the town of Pomfret. During the traffic stop, deputies found him to be intoxicated. McPherson was released on an appearance ticket.

Gowanda Police remind residents to lock vehicles

The Gowanda Police Department reminds all residents to not leave vehicle keys inside the vehicle or to leave valuables inside the vehicle parked overnight. All vehicles should be locked when parked.

Robert Dyer, 50, of East Main Street was charged with disorderly conduct July 21. During patrol police observed Dyer, who ap-peared intoxicated, yelling obscenities at another subject in the presence of young children. He was released on an appearance ticket.

Roland T. White, 40, of East Main Street was charged with child endangerment July 23. Police responded to a report of a disturbance involving three young children on East Main Street. Through investigation, it was discovered the children had been physically abused, and White was charged for his part in allowing and encouraging this behavior to occur. He was released on an appearance ticket. The Erie County Child Protection Agency was notified.

Kevin D. Goodemote, 57, of Cattaraugus was charged with operating a vehicle with a suspended registration July 24. During routine patrol the license plate reader alerted to Goodemote’s vehicle whose registration was suspended for an insurance lapse. Goodemote was released on an appearance ticket.

Jamie E. Schiefer, 20, of Erie Avenue was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana July 24. Schiefer was a passenger stopped regarding an investigation of an incident in Gowanda. During this stop, he was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Schiefer was released on an appearance ticket.

Richard K. Cornfield, 56, of North Collins was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, operating a vehicle without an interlock device and speeding on July 26. At 2:20 p.m. Cornfield was observed speeding on Broadway Road. A DMV computer check revealed his license was revoked in 2010 for a driving while intoxicated conviction and an interlock device was mandated. He was arraigned in Persia Town Court and released on $5,000 bail.

Alissa C. Jones, 41, of Union Street was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and menacing a police officer on July 27. At 5:49 p.m. Jones, who appeared intoxicated, arrived at Gowanda Police station to report a larceny but became hostile and threatened officers with a stick. She refused orders to drop the stick and continued to threatened officers. She was released on an appearance ticket.

James W. Bish, 43, of East Main Street was charged with disorderly conduct, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and having a controlled substance in a non-original container on July 27. At 9:13 p.m. police responded to an East Main Street address for a violent domestic dispute in progress. Bish, who ap-peared under the influence of drugs, became physically aggressive and combative toward police and refused several orders. A taser was used to subdue Bish who was discovered to be in possession of several Loritab narcotic pills not prescribed to him. He was evaluated by Gowanda Ambulance Service and released on an appearance ticket.

Seymour J. White, 34, of Perrysburg was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and having a controlled substance in a non-original container on July 29. At 12:07 a.m. patrol was alerted to a suspicious vehicle parked on the roadway on Palmer Street. While investigating the vehicle, White confessed to driving the vehicle to that location. White was found to be in possession of Loritab narcotic pills which were not prescribed to him and a DMV computer check revealed White’s license was suspended for a driving while intoxicated conviction. White was arraigned in Persia Town Court and sent to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $750 bail.

KIANTONE – Wilson Cooper, 38, of Jamestown, was charged July 24 with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. Cooper was stopped for a traffic violation while driving through a road check on Route 62 and was taken into custody after his license was found to be suspended. He was arraigned in the Carroll Town Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail. Cooper is scheduled to appear in the Town of Kiantone Court on a later date.

ELLICOTT – Deserae McKale, 32, of Frewsburg, was charged July 25 with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation after being stopped on Route 60 for a traffic violation. McKale’s licence was found to be suspended since January. She was arraigned in Ellicott Town Court and released on her own recognizance. McKale will appear back in court at a later date.

Aurelio Lopez, 27, of Townsend Street was charged with possessing an open container of alcohol and criminal trespass July 24.

Cristian Maestie of Ruggles Street was charged with resisting arrest on Thursday.

Travis Franklin, 25, of Armadillo Street was charged with obstruction on Friday.

Klarisa Foster, 23, of Forestville was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Friday.

Wayne Finley, 29, of East Second Street was charged with obstructing a government administration on Friday.

Virgilio Rodriguez, 44, of Robin Street was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Friday.

Tara Bess, 42, of Middle Road was charged with second-degree menacing on Saturday.

A bench warrant was issued for Shanequa Eldridge, 23, of East Tenney Street on Saturday for charges of obstruction, resisting arrest and attempted assault.

Edward Casey Jr., 19, of South Main Street was charged with disorderly conduct on Friday.

Stephanie Buchanan, 33, of Front Street was charged with second-degree harassment on Sunday.

Ron Winchell, 48, of Central Avenue was charged with second-degree harassment on Monday.

Christian Gerholdt, 21, of West Main Road, Fredonia, was charged with petit larceny on Monday.

Jamestown man facing several charges in Stockton

  • STOCKTON – On Saturday, Scott Garbart, 42, of Jamestown was charged with driving while intoxicated common law, aggravated driving while intoxicated (.18 percent blood alcohol content or greater), third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, moving from lane unsafely, driving across hazard markings, and insufficient tail lights.

The County Sheriff’s Office received a vehicle complaint on Route 60 in the village of Cassadaga. A short time later, deputies on patrol observed the suspect vehicle traveling on Putnam Road. The vehicle was stopped for reported violation of numerous vehicle and traffic laws. The operator was reportedly found to be intoxicated and subsequently taken into custody for processing. He provided a breath sample that was reported to be .18 percent or greater. A check of Garbart’s privileges to operate a motor vehicle in New York state revealed a suspended license for a previous incident leading to the unlicensed operation charge.

Garbart was released on appearance tickets and is to answer charges in the Town of Stockton Court at a later date.

Stockton man remanded to County Jail

  • STOCKTON – Christopher E. Dellahoy, 24, of Stockton was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail on $4,000 bail after an incident Saturday night at a Stockton residence.

Dellahoy was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and two counts of second-degree obstructing governmental administration after Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a fight. Dellahoy allegedly smashed a cell phone on the pavement in front of deputies. After being detained, he reportedly physically obstructed officers using physical force. After being secured in a patrol vehicle, he reportedly attempted to kick the windows out.

Dellahoy was arraigned in the Town of Stockton Court and secured in the Chautauqua County Jail.

Sherman man, 21, committed to County Jail

  • FRENCH CREEK – On Sunday morning, Benjamin Crane, 21, of Miller Street in Sherman was charged with second-degree criminal trespass and committed to the Chautauqua County Jail.

At 5:10 a.m.,Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 1725 French Creek Mina Road where a homeowner reported a subject in the residence. Reportedly, Crane entered the home without permission and was detained until deputies arrived. Crane was taken into custody without incident.

He was arraigned in the Town of French Creek Court. His bail is set a $5,000 cash / $10,000 property.

Portland man charged with DWI

  • BROCTON – On Sunday, Rodney Austin, 26, of Portland was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated per se and inadequate muffler.

At about 2:40 a.m. Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies reportedly observed and heard a vehicle traveling on Lake Avenue with a discernibly loud and leaking exhaust system. The deputies stopped the vehicle driven by Austin. Reportedly, Austin was intoxicated.

He will appear in the Village of Brocton Court at a later date.

Sheridan man charged with disorderly conduct

  • SHERIDAN – On Saturday evening, Richard Balzer, 50, was charged with disorderly conduct.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies were handling a complaint on Route 20 when Balzer reportedly became disorderly after learning police action could not be taken for his complaint at the present time. Balzer allegedly used obscene language in a public location while other patrons were in the area.

Balzer was issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Sheridan Court and is scheduled to appear there at a later date.

Gerry man jailed after domestic incident

  • STOCKTON – On Saturday afternoon, Jeremy Samuelson, 27, of 6876 Route 60 in Gerry was charged with third-degree assault and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Samuelson was involved in a domestic altercation during which he caused injury to another in front of minor children.

Samuelson was arraigned in the Town of Stockton Court and remanded to the county jail in lieu of bail. He is to return to court at a later date.

After several break ins, burglar nabbed

SINCLAIRVILLE – A 30-year-old suspect was nabbed Thursday afternoon by police after an investigation into a couple break ins around the Sinclairville area.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, a following investigation of the break ins led to the arrest of Jacob Raynor of Reed Street in the village of Sinclairville around 2 p.m. Raynor was charged with second-degree burglary and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Investigators say Raynor allegedly broke into a residence and stole personal property while inside the home, including guns and jewelry. Police say they were able to recover a couple of those guns and a quantity of jewelry belonging to the victim.

Raynor was arraigned in Charlotte Town Court, which set a $20,000 cash bail or a $40,000 property bond. He is currently in the Chautauqua County Jail.

Gerry woman ticketed after accident

GERRY – A 22-year-old woman involved in a single-vehicle personal injury accident Friday morning was issued a traffic ticket for not wearing a seatbelt.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Brianna Skuggen of Gerry was traveling northwest on Nobles Road in the town of Gerry at around 11:30 a.m. when a deer entered the roadway. Skuggen avoided the deer but lost control of her vehicle in the process. She exited the roadway and struck an earth embankment and two trees and came to a rest in the ditch.

Skuggen was transported to WCA Hospital with injuries. She was issued a traffic ticket to appear at a later date in Gerry Town Court.

The Sinclairville and Gerry fire departments and KCR Towing assisted at the scene.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

SHERMAN – James L. Linger, 37, of Sherman was charged with second-degree menacing Sunday. Deputies and New York State Police responded to an incident on Route 76 in the town of Sherman at 10 p.m. It is alleged Linger pointed a loaded firearm at a victim and made threats placing the victim in fear of injury or death. Linger was released on appearance tickets for Sherman Town Court.

SILVER CREEK – Deputies stopped a vehicle towing an unregistered trailer on Central Avenue in the village of Silver Creek around 11:30 a.m. on Friday. An investigation led to finding the operator of that vehicle, Shawn Sobczak, 26, of Lakewood, to have a revoked New York state driver’s license.

Sobczak currently holds numerous suspensions and revocations on his license, including prior alcohol-related driving offenses.

Sobczak was arrested and taken into custody on charges of second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, unlicensed operation, unregistered trailer and having no brake lights on a trailer. He was arraigned in Silver Creek Village Court and later remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail on bail.

HANOVER – Deputies stopped a vehicle on Route 5 & 20 in the town of Hanover at approximately 1:15 a.m. Friday for traffic violations. The operator of the vehicle was identified as David Nelson, 47, of Tonawanda.

A further investigation found Nelson to be intoxicated. He was taken into custody and later released with traffic tickets for driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or greater, failure to keep right, moving from a lane unsafely and speeding in zone.

Nelson will appear in Hanover Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.

HANOVER – Deputies stopped a vehicle on Route 5 & 20 in the town of Hanover at approximately 5 a.m. Friday for a traffic violation. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Duane Carry-Moccasin, 24, of Gowanda.

A further investigation found Carry-Moccasin to be intoxicated. He was taken into custody and later released with traffic tickets for speeding in zone, possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or greater.

Carry-Moccasin will appear in Hanover Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.

Two men charged

following fight at demolition derby

Two men were charged following a fight at the demolition derby Tuesday night.

Todd Ellman, 47, of Dun-kirk and John Robinson, 37, of Stockton were both charged with disorderly conduct just before 9 p.m.

According to Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, both men were involved in a physical altercation on the track during the final heat of the demolition derby.

Both men were physically subdued and placed under arrest. They were later released on their own recognizance and will appear in Dunkirk City Court.

Matthew Buchanan-Ruiz, 23, of West Second Street, was charged with third-degree assault and third-degree criminal mischief on July 16.

Latrece Stewart, 23, of East Fifth Street, was charged with disorderly conduct on July 18.

Marcus Wilson, 29, of East Second Street, was charged with second-degree harassment and fourth-degree criminal mischief on July 18.

Mark Schulenberg, 30, of Roosevelt Avenue, was charged with third-degree grand larceny on July 18.

Aurelio Maricio Lopez, 28, of Columbus Avenue, was charged with petit larceny on July 18.

Alexander Mancuso, 31, of Washington Avenue, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, having a suspended registration and having no insurance on July 19.

Benjamin Cole, 19, of South Pangolin Street, was charged with two counts of second-degree obstruction of a governmental administration and resisting arrest on Saturday.

Jonathan Colon, 20, of Canary Street, was charged with third-degree criminal mischief on Monday.

Patricia Clyde, 52, of Ruggles Street, was charged with petit larceny and trespassing on Tuesday.

On Wednesday at 3:35 p.m., Vicki Norman, 41, of Jamestown, was traveling south on Central Avenue approaching East Third Street when she struck K. Grzegorzewski, 52, of East Lake Road. Norman told police she was looking for the hospital and did not see the red traffic light because she was attempting to follow a sign pointing to where the hospital was. At that time, Norman went through the red traffic signal and struck Grzegorzewski, who was heading west on East Third Street and crossing Central Avenue to continue onto West Third Street.

Gregory Burroughs, 20, of Silver Creek, was charged with following too closely on July 18 after his vehicle rear-ended the vehicle of Jodie Korzenski, 42, of Fizell Avenue, at 5 p.m. Burroughs told police he was traveling north on Maple Avenue when his foot slipped off the brake pedal, causing him to collide with Korzenski, who was in front of him.

Burroughs’ vehicle sustained front-end grill and bumper damage. Korzenski’s vehicle had rear-end damage in the bumper area, which caused the license plate to detach from the impact.

WESTFIELD – Skyler Miller, 26, of Ripley was charged Friday with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher, unlawful possession of marijuana, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Deputies found Miller to be operating a vehicle on Clinton Street at 10:07 p.m. Miller had outstanding warrants from Chautauqua County Probation and Ripley Town Court. Deputies found that Miller was intoxicated during a traffic stop and in possession of numerous prescription pills and marijuana. She was sent to the Chautauqua County Jail and will appear in Westfield Village Court for the new charges. Westfield Police Department assisted.

SILVER CREEK – Richard T. Kamphey, 63, of West Lake Road was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation and uninspected motor vehicle on Wednesday.

At 11 a.m. deputies stopped Kamphey’s vehicle on Central Avenue in the village of Silver Creek for an expired inspection. Further investigation led to the finding of Kamphey having a revoked license.

He was arraigned and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash or $2,000 property.

Evans Police arrest one in marijuana bust

EVANS – The Evans Police Department uncovered several marijuana plants being grown in the town with help from the Sheriff’s Office Tuesday.

Police were alerted by Erie County Sheriff’s Air One Pilot Captain Kevin Caffery of several marijuana plants being grown in the rear yard of 720 Bennett Road at 3 p.m. Police were guided by Air One to the lo-cation of these plants which were confiscated. A 63-year-old man was charged with unlawful growing of marijuana. Police did not release his name.

Several minutes following the seizure, Air One located several more plants in a rural area near 7615 Southwestern Boulevard in the town. Police responded and also confiscated these plants. No arrests have been made in connection with this confiscation and the investigation is continuing.

Forestville man charged with

cutting brake lines

HANOVER – A For-estville man has been charged with cutting brake lines on vehicles in Hanover. James J. Hilliker, 45, was charged Monday.

According to Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Hilliker went to the victim’s house on Hanover Street and allegedly cut the brake lines of several vehicles, damaged braking apparatus and damaged other vehicular parts on July 5.

For the damage to the vehicles, Hilliker was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and two counts of third-degree criminal mischief. He was additionally charged with second-degree reckless endangerment for potential consequences of driving the brakeless vehicles on a public highway. He was re-leased on appearance tickets for Hanover Court.

HANOVER – Kevin A. Brennan, 25, of Cheekto-waga was charged Tuesday with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08 or more and speeding.

At 1:11 a.m. deputies stopped Brennan’s vehicle on Routes 5/20 for a traffic violation. During the stop, it was found Brennan was in-toxicated. He was released on an appearance ticket from Hanover Town Court.

HANOVER – Kyle M. Samuelson, 20, of Cone-wango was charged with speeding and unlawful possession of marijuana Tues-day. At 3:06 a.m. deputies stopped a vehicle on Routes 5/20 for a traffic violating. During the traffic stop, deputies found Samuelson was found to be in possession of a small quantity of marijuana. He was issued an appearance ticket for Hanover Town Court.

CATTARAUGUS – Kyle J. Harris, 35, of Cattaraugus was charged with second-degree criminal contempt and disorderly conduct Sunday.

Deputies responded to a domestic altercation on South Street at 3:45 a.m during which Harris allegedly threw his wife down. These actions took place during a temporary order of protection. Harris was arraigned in Dayton Town Court and posted bail. He is to appear in New Albion Town Court.

LEON – Andrew M. Pasinski, 37, of Derby was charged Sunday with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08 or more, failure to maintain lane and inadequate ex-haust. At 11:28 p.m. depu-ties stopped Pasinski’s vehicle on Dredge Road in the town of Leon and found him to be intoxicated. He was released on appearance tickets for Leon Town Court.

Weyland E. Cleland, 21, of Buffalo Street was charged on an arrest warrant on July 2. Cleland also had a warrant out of Erie County Court for failure to appear. He was arrested on both warrants and sent to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $2,000 bail.

John H. Quiter, 52, of East Main Street was charged with disorderly conduct on July 2. Police saw Quiter, who appeared intoxicated, yelling obscenities on East Main Street in the presence of young children. He was released on an appearance ticket for Collins Town Court.

Angi L. Witczak, 39, of East Main Street was charged with disorderly conduct July 2. Police ob-served Witczak, who ap-peared intoxicated, yelling obscenities on East Main Street in the presence of young children. She was released on an appearance ticket for Collins Court.

Tylor S. Connor, 27, of Perrysburg was charged with operating with a suspended registration July 3. During patrol, Connor’s vehicle was alerted by the license plate reader on Jamestown Street. Connor was released on an appearance ticket for Persia Court.

Anthony I. Sanjurjo, 21, of Buffalo Street was charged on an warrant on July 4. Hamburg Police notified Gowanda Police of an active warrant for Sanjurjo issued from Hamburg Town Court. He was arrested and turned over to Hamburg Police Department.

Kristie S. Riley, 44, of Conewango was charged with operating a vehicle with a suspended registration on July 4. During routine patrol on Buffalo Street, the license plate reader alerted to Riley’s vehicle. Riley was released on an appearance ticket for Collins Town Court.

Ray W. Silverheels, 26, of North Collins was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on July 7. Police took a report of a stolen vehicle from a village driveway the previous day. Police observed Silverheels operating this stolen vehicle on a suspended license. He was arraigned in Persia Town Court and sent to Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail.

Jessica Lundgren, 27, of Cheektowaga was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and having an expired registration on July 10. Police observed Lundgren’s vehicle turn into a closed village business and it was found Lundgren’s registration had expired. She was released on an appearance ticket for Collins Town Court.

James W. Mallaber, 23, of Jamestown Street was charged with third-degree assault, criminal obstruction of breathing and criminal mischief on July 13. Police responded to the report of an assault where Mallaber had allegedly struck a victim, choked her and smashed her cell phone. The victim was treated by Gowanda Ambulance Service for facial injuries. Mallaber was arraigned in Persia Town Court and then sent to Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail.

Jonathan R. White II, 16, of Commercial Street was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, petit larceny, making graffiti and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property on July 19. White, along with other juvenile subjects were charged in connection with entering various vehicles and stealing items in the Hidi area of the village and spray painting buildings and roadways previously. White was found in possession of a stolen credit card and other stolen items were recovered. The juveniles were released on appearance tickets for Cattaraugus County Family Court while White was released for an appearance ticket for Persia Town Court.

Robert M. Dyer, 50, of East Main Street was charged with disorderly conduct on July 21. Dyer was causing a disturbance on the sidewalk of East Main Street at 8:30 p.m. He appeared intoxicated and was yelling obscenities in the presence of several young children. Dyer was released on an appearance ticket for Collins Town Court.

  • RIPLEY – On Satur-day evening, Markus J. Meredith and Daniel Dulong, both 19 and both from Ripley, were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Meredith was also cited for no seatbelt.

Deputies reportedly saw Meredith operating a vehicle without wearing a seatbelt. A small quantity of marijuana was reportedly found inside the vehicle.

Both are scheduled to appear in the Town of Ripley Court at a later date.

  • RIPLEY – On Sunday at about 2:30 a.m., Ashley Belson, 29, of Ripley was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI per se, and inadequate tail lights.

Deputies reported observing a vehicle operating with inadequate lights and stopped it. Upon further investigation, the officers reported Belson was intoxicated. She was released to a third party and will appear in the Town of Ripley Court at a later date.

State Police at Collins

BRANT – On July 14, troopers charged Barry Martin, 27, of Walden Avenue in Buffalo with third-degree assault following a disturbance on State Route 438 extension.

Troopers were advised of a female assault victim by the Seneca Nation of Indians Marshals. They responded to a home and spoke with the reported victim. She said she was sleeping outside in a camper when Martin came in and punched her several times in the face. Martin fled on foot before the troopers arrived. The victim was treated at Lake Shore Hospital for her injuries.

Troopers located Martin a short time later back at the camper and took him into custody. He was processed at state police barracks in Collins and arraigned in the Town of Brant Court.

  • COLLINS CENTER – On July 15, troopers charged Joseph Kruszka of Main Street in Collins Center with fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment, following a disturbance call.

Kruszka reportedly threw a rock through a neighbor’s front window and then began to argue and push the female neighbor around after she let him in.

Kruszka was processed at state police barracks in Collins and is due in the Town of Collins Court later this month.

  • BRANT – On Wednes-day, troopers charged Justin Jamieson, 29, of State Route 438 in Irving with unlawful possession of marijuana.

His car was stopped on Milestrip Road for a broken front windshield. While speaking to him, troopers reported smelling marijuana coming from inside the car.

Reportedly, he was in possession of 5.5 grams of marijuana in a plastic bag and had a glass pipe with marijuana in it.

He is due to appear in the Town of Brant Court next month.

  • COLLINS – On Friday, troopers charged Alex Sullivan, 31, of Aristo Terrace in Yorkshire with felony driving while intoxicated, following a traffic stop on Route 39.

Sullivan was traveling east when troopers reportedly observed his vehicle cross the center line. While speaking to him, officers reportedly smelled a strong odor of alcohol. Sullivan reportedly failed a series of field sobriety tests. He was processed at state police barracks in Collins. His blood alcohol level was reported to be .12 percent.

A computer check found he had been convicted of DWI in 2009, so he was charged with a felony.

He was arraigned in the Town of Collins Court and is due to return next month to face the charge.

  • BRANT – On Friday, troopers charged Bryce Plecker, 17, of Angell Road in Silver Creek with unlawful possession of marijuana following a suspicious vehicle complaint.

The Seneca Nation of Indians Marshals spotted the car he was driving parked in Snows Marina well after midnight and checked on it. The marshals reportedly observed Plecker smoking marijuana and called the troopers.

Troopers report Plecker was in possession of 10 grams of marijuana, a glass pipe with marijuana in it and other drug-related items. He is due to appear in the Town of Brant Court next month.

MAYVILLE – District Attorney David W. Foley announced the following pleas and sentences in Chautauqua County Court:

  • Ismael M. Ortiz, 43, of Ellicott Road, Brocton, was sentenced to 2 years determinate in state prison with 10 years post-release supervision for first-degree sexual abuse.
  • Michael Mooney, 59, of Main Street, North Collins, was sentenced to 1 year in jail, a 3-year conditional discharge and 36 months ignition interlock device for felony driving while intoxicated.
  • Sheltear L. Brown, 22, of King Street, Dunkirk, was sentenced to 6 months in jail and 5 years probation for third-degree robbery.
  • Josie Adams, 56, of Washington Avenue, Dunkirk, was sentenced to 5 years probation, 60 months ignition interlock device, a $2,500 fine and 1-year driver’s license revocation for felony aggravated driving while intoxicated.
  • Charles Faison, 49, of Jamestown, was sentenced to a 1 year conditional discharge, $1,000 fine, 12 months ignition interlock device and 6-months driver’s license revocation for misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.
  • Neftali Cintron, 50, of Jamestown, was sentenced to a 1-year conditional discharge and restitution for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
  • Luis DeJesus-Colon, 28, of Jamestown, was sentenced to a 1-year conditional discharge and restitution for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
  • Jacob Soggs, 31, of Route 20, Silver Creek, was sentenced to 90 days in jail for SORA registry violation (2 counts).

Noel Dominguez, 24, of Brigham Road, was charged with second-degree harassment on July 8.

Nathan Mosier, 20, of Cassadaga, was charged with under 21 possession of alcohol on July 8.

Matthew Sutton, 26, of Brocton, was charged with following too closely, driving an uninspected vehicle, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, leaving the scene of an accident and having a broken front windshield on July 11.

Bautista Santiago Mario, 29, of East Doughty Street in Dunkirk, was charged with having a suspended registration and unlicensed driving on July 12.

Ronald Powless, 25, of Brocton, was charged with petit larceny on Monday.

Edwin Wilson, 36, of Ruggles Street in Dunkirk, was charged with petit larceny on Monday.

On Tuesday at around 4 p.m., Louis Polichetti, 50, of West Sixth Street in Dunkirk, was heading north on Water Street near the intersection with Washington Street when he struck a power pole. Polichetti stated he must have fallen asleep behind the wheel as he did not remember leaving the roadway. He was alert after striking a tree in front of 175 Water St., then the power pole after striking the tree. The pole snapped in half. The power company did arrive on the scene. Nobody was injured and no charges were filed. Polichetti’s vehicle was towed to Mancuso’s Service Center.

Cherry Creek man charged with drug possession

CHERRY CREEK – On Wednesday, Tyler Bailey, 21, of Cherry Creek was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.

Fredonia troopers responded to a complaint of a disorderly subject at a residence on Route 83. At the scene, they reportedly saw a couple smoking devices and a metal grinder containing marijuana in plain view in Bailey’s bedroom.

Bailey was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Villenova Court on Aug. 1.

Woman scoots away with motorized cart

WESTFIELD – A Brocton woman has been charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property following an incident at Tops in Westfield. The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with Westfield Police Department, charged Wendy M. Hallmark, 52, of Brocton after it was alleged that Hallmark stole a motorized scooter cart on July 11. Deputies located Hallmark the following day in possession of the scooter. Hallmark was released on an appearance ticket for Brocton Village Court.

RANDOLPH – Lindsey M. Pulliam, 23, of Cherry Creek was charged with petit larceny on July 9. It is alleged that Pulliam stole property from the Dollar General Store in Randolph just after 8 p.m. She was released on an appearance ticket for Randolph Town Court.

FREWSBURG – A traffic stop on West Main Street in the village of Frewsburg resulted in charges placed against three youth. Deputies stopped the vehicle for having an expired registration and found three males smoking marijuana in the vehicle at 3:34 a.m. An 18-year-old from Panama and 19-year-old from Lakewood were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. The driver, a 16-year-old from Ashville was found to be impaired and operating out of class after 9 p.m. The driver was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, unlawful possession of marijuana, unregistered vehicle and operating out of class. All three males were released on appearance tickets for Carroll Town Court.

SINCLAIRVILLE – Keith A. Smith, 49, of Sinclairville was charged with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08 or more, speeding, failure to keep right and crossing hazard markings on July 10. At 10 p.m. deputies stopped Smith’s vehicle for speeding and erratic driving on Park Street in Sinclairville. During this traffic stop, Smith was found to be intoxicated and was released on an appearance ticket for Charlotte Town Court.

NORTH HARMONY – Colton A. Derby, 19, of Lakewood was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on July 10. At 1:45 a.m., Derby was a passenger in the vehicle stopped by deputies on Open Meadows Road in North Harmony. He was found to be in possession of marijuana and was found to have a bench warrant out of the city of Jamestown. He was released on an appearance ticket for the North Harmony Town Court and turned over to Jamestown Police Department.

MAYVILLE – Heidi L. Williams, 41, of Jamestown was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and unlawful possession of marijuana on July 11. At 1:47 a.m. deputies checked the registration of a vehicle that was operating on Valley Street in Mayville. The license plates did not match the current registration and it was found that Williams’ license was suspended. Also during the traffic stop, Williams was found to be in possession of a small quantity of marijuana. Williams was released on appearance tickets for Chautauqua Town Court.

SILVER CREEK – Nathan K. Thompson, 18, of Hanover Road was charged with breach of the peace on July 2. At 9:40 p.m. deputies were in the area of Maple Place in the village of Silver Creek when a crowd developed in the road and a verbal altercation ensured. Deputies advised Thompson, a member of the group, to disperse numerous times but he refused. He was released on an appearance ticket.

SILVER CREEK – A 16-year-old female from Silver Creek was charged with violating the village curfew on July 8. At 10:45 p.m. deputies observed the female loitering on the sidewalk on Central Avenue in the village of Silver Creek. She was released on an appearance ticket.

WESTFIELD – James Wright Jr., 38, of Route 394 was charged with petit larceny on July 9. Wright allegedly took an $800 down payment from an individual for contracting work in October but never started the project or did any work. He was issued an appearance ticket.

POLAND – Jordan Bradybaugh, 30, of Kane, Pa., was involved in an incident on Falconer-Frews-burg Road in the town of Poland on July 10. At 12:01 a.m. Bradybaugh allegedly pulled and dragged a person from his vehicle and then caused damage to their cell phone before fleeing the scene. Charges of second-degree harassment and criminal mischief out of the Poland Town Court are pending.

Around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Gerald Moore, 66, of Urban Road, was driving eastbound on Lake Shore Drive East when he rear-ended the vehicle of Peter Harney, 61, of Park Avenue. Moore stated he didn’t see Harney in time at the intersection with North Roberts Road, where Harney was attempting to make a left-hand turn. No charges have been filed yet.

Westfield Police

Jon D. Nusom, 49, of Clark Street was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana on June 15. At 8:40 p.m. police responded to Nusom’s residence for a report of a disorderly male. Once inside the residence, officers could smell a strong odor of burnt marijuana and Nusom was found in possession of more than two ounces of the drug. He was issued an appearance ticket for Westfield Village Court. New York State Police and Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office also responded.

Corinne L. Frye, 53, of Hamburg was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI and failure to keep right on July 5. At 12:03 a.m. police observed Frye’s vehicle swerve into the opposite lane while on South Portage Street. The vehicle was stopped and Frye was found to be intoxicated. She was released on an appearance ticket for Westfield Village Court.

A 16-year-old male Westfield youth was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on July 7. At 2:16 a.m. police were on patrol on North Portage Street and saw the youth walking who was out past the village curfew. The youth was stopped and found to be in a possession of a small quantity of marijuana and a smoking pipe. He was released on appearance tickets for Westfield Village Court.

Sheriff’s car hit by apple

BROCTON – A 16-year-old from Brocton was taken into custody following an incident involving apples early Monday morning.

At 3:30 a.m. Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies were traveling east on Route 20 near the intersection of Central Avenue. The deputy observed numerous individuals on the front lawn of a residence who were throwing apples. One apple hit the sheriff’s vehicle.

A foot pursuit ensued and the youth was taken into custody on Central Avenue.

An investigation continues and charges may be filed.

Two charged with open container violation

  • IRVING – Two males were charged Wednesday with open container under 21 years of age, a violation of Hanover local law.

Sheriff’s deputies were on patrol in Sunset Bay when they reportedly observed Zachary Jordon, 19, of Alden and Ryan J. Carberry, 20 of Lockport to be in possession of open containers of alcohol in the Sunset Bay Beach Club parking lot on Iola Drive.

Both were cited and will answer the charge in the Town of Hanover Court.

Accidental fire caused by candle

POLAND – A fire Sunday in the town of Poland destroyed a residence on Route 62. The Kennedy Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire at 2094 Route 62 at 6:48 p.m. Two youths were home at the time of the fire and were able to escape without injury but some family pets were lost in the fire.

The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation team conducted an investigation into the cause of the fire and were assisted by the New York State Police.

Investigators determined the fire started on the first floor in the family room and was caused by an unattended candle left burning. The fire has been ruled accidental.

The American Red Cross assisted the displaced family. Also responding to the scene were the Frewsburg Fire Department, Falconer Fire Department, Kiantone Fire Department and Office of Emergency Services.

car-bicycle accident

  • SPRINGVILLE – An Erie County Sheriff’s deputy was involved in a car-bicycle accident Friday. Deputy Robert Galbraith was driving north on North Buffalo Street when his vehicle came into contact with Dominique R. Maitland of Springville at 10:30 p.m.

Investigation determined Maitland was attempting to the cross the street in the northbound lane. She was taken to Bertrand-Chaffee Hospital for non-life threatening injuries then transferred to Erie County Medi-cal Center. According to the sheriff’s office, Maitland was expected to be released from ECMC Monday. The investigation is continuing.

  • SHERMAN – A road check on Waite Corners Road Sunday resulted in the following charges:

Adam O’Connor, 30, of Tonawanda was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. Items reported to be in O’Connor’s possession included a jar containing one gram of marijuana, a pill bottle containing a small amount of marijuana, and a foil wrapper containing three acid tabs. O’Connor was processed at state police barracks in James-town, arraigned in Sher-man Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail

Kyle Conn, 23, of Franklin, Pa., and Amanda Clark, 25, of Madison, Maine, were charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. Reportedly, items seized from the two included a bag containing 20 grams of marijuana, cellophane containing one gram of opium, a bag containing a half gram of amphetamine and two containing ecstasy. Conn and Clark were processed at state police barracks in Jamestown, arraigned in the Town of Sherman Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail.

Wade Benford, 32, of Buffalo was charged for driving while intoxicated. Reportedly, he failed several field sobriety tests. He was transported to state police barracks in Jamestown where the breath sample he provided a breath sample of .14 percent. Benford was then processed, issued tickets returnable to Town of Sherman Court, and re-leased to a sober individual.

Brian Howell, 26, of Littleton, Colo., was char-ged with fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and fourth-degree criminal sale of marijuana. He was a front seat passenger in a car stopped at a checkpoint. The occupants of the car were all searched because the trooper reportedly detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the car. Howell was processed at state police barracks in Jamestown, arraigned in Town of Sher-man Court, and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail.

Raymond Westbrook, 43, of Pittsburgh, Pa., for aggravated driving while intoxicated and two counts of Leandra’s Law (driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle). He reportedly failed several field sobriety tests. His two minor children who were in the car were turned over to a sober individual. He was transported to the state police barracks in Jamestown where the breath sample he provided a breath sample reported to be .19 percent. He was processed, arraigned in the Town of Sherman and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail.

  • CHERRY CREEK – On Friday, Tyler Stakelum, 27, of Kennedy was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

A trooper responded to a report of a vehicle in a ditch on Milestrip Road and found two suspensions on Stakelum’s license.

Stakelum was arraigned in the Town of Charlotte Court, remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail, and is scheduled to appear in the Cherry Creek Court.

  • FREWSBURG – On Saturday, Steven Cline, 32, of Frewsburg was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, unlawful possession of marijuana, and prohibitions on the use and possession of a firearm.

A trooper responded to Frew Run Road for a report of a vehicle being operated erratically.

Troopers report Cline failed several field sobriety tests and they located marijuana residue and a loaded rifle inside his car. He was transported to state police headquarters in Jamestown where his breath sample was reported at .18 percent.

Cline was processed, issued tickets and released to a sober individual.

Tiffany Klee, 19, of Farnham, was charged with petit larceny on Tuesday.

Craig Frazier, 65, of One Temple Square, was charged with failure to use designated lane, operating out of class and no hand signal on Tuesday.

HANOVER – Saman-tha M. Dilallo, 25, of Ran-dolph was charged with failure to keep right, move from lane unsafely, driving across hazard markings, driving while intoxicated and aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content of .18 or higher on Monday. At 1:18 a.m. deputies were on patrol when they observed Dilallo’s vehicle make several lane violations. During the traffic stop, Dilallo was found to be intoxicated. She was released on an appearance ticket for Hanover Town Court.

PORTLAND – Jason Passinger, 37, of Jamestown was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and false personation Monday. At 10:50 a.m. deputies conducted a warrant check at a residence for Passinger. He was taken into custody and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail pending arraignment.

Accident takes life of Jamestown woman

  • HAMBURG – On Thursday, a one-car accident took the life of Debbie A. Smith, 48, of Jamestown.

At about 5:50 p.m. a vehicle driven by Kimberly A. Malone, 53, of Jamestown was traveling west on Interstate 90 near Exit 57 when it drifted onto the left shoulder and struck a delineator. Reportedly, the driver over-corrected and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid off the highway and overturn. The vehicle landed on its roof in the center median.

Smith was ejected from the vehicle. Malone had an arm injury while Smith received treatment for a broken leg and pelvic injury.

Both were transported to Erie County Medical Center with what first appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. Upon further examination at ECMC it was determined Smith had sustained severe internal injuries to which she succumbed later that evening.

Three teens charged with drug violations

HANOVER – On Friday, Michael P. Keller, 18, of Angola, Lucas T. Freemont, 19, of Farnham, and Matthew D. Valliere, 19, of Irving were charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana.

At about 2:30 a.m. Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office deputies stopped a car on Routes 5 and 20 for vehicle and traffic law violations. While speaking to the occupants of the vehicle, the officers detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Reportedly, the deputies found a quantity of marijuana inside the vehicle when they searched it.

All subjects were issued appearance tickets.

Two men charged

in road rage incident

  • MAYVILLE – On Thursday, Joseph R. Rhault, 26, of Westfield and Jacob M. Clark, 21, of Panama were both charged with disorderly conduct.

A Chautauqua County Sheriff’s patrol was assisting the Fire Department with traffic control at Lakeside Park in Mayville following the fireworks. Deputies witnessed a “road rage” incident in which a verbal altercation between the two subjects was escalating. The two men were lurching their vehicles toward each other in a threatening manner.

Both subjects will appear in Town of Chautauqua Court.

Fugitive taken to jail

  • HANOVER – On Friday, Sammy D. Avilas, 34, of Angell Road in Silver Creek was taken into custody and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail with no bail.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies on patrol on Angell Road at about 9:52 p.m. observed a vehicle parked on the side of the maintenance building belonging to the Angell Road Trailer Park. The deputies identified Avilas to be the operator of the vehicle. Deputies learned he was wanted from Luzerne County, Pa., on warrant for fraud – illegal use of credit cards. Avilas was arraigned in Town of Hanover Court.

Officials await further action from Pennsylvania.

Man faces drug and weapon charges

SHERMAN – On Saturday at about 1:30 a.m. security officials at the Blue Heron Festival were told an individual was believed to be selling narcotics. They confronted and identified Rashid A. Jabbar, 28, of 640 E. Sixth Street, Jamestown.

Reportedly, Jabbar possessed a large fixed blade knife, unsheathed in his pants pocket. Security detained Jabbar and transported him to headquarters. En route, Jabbar is reported to have thrown seven bundles of a powdery substance onto the ground. Security called the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office. Deputies tested the substance. It was positive for heroin.

Deputies charged Jabbar with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance because the substance was packaged for sale. He was also charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon for possessing the knife. He was arraigned and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail.

  • CHAUTAUQUA – Krysta Smith, 23, of Erie, Pa., was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood alcohol content above .08 percent, speeding and failure to keep right Friday at 12:30 a.m.

Sheriff’s patrol stopped Smith’s vehicle on Chautauqua-Stedman Road for speeding and failing to keep right. After an investigation, Smith was charged with DWI. She was taken into custody and later released with appearance tickets. She will appear in Chautauqua Town Court.

  • HANOVER – A 21-year-old Brant man is facing a number of charges after police say he was driving drunk Friday morning.

Thomas Kellog was driving on Route 5 and 20 in Hanover at around 2:30 a.m. when deputies stopped him for traffic violations.

Kellog was allegedly found intoxicated in the vehicle and taken into custody. A check of his driving record showed that his driving privileges in the state had been revoked for a prior alcohol-related incident.

Police also say Kellog was in possession of more than 25 grams of marijuana. He was released with appearance tickets for driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or greater, first-degree felony aggravated unlicensed operation, unsafe lane change, cross hazard markings and criminal possession of marijuana.

He will appear in Hanover Town Court.

RIPLEY – On Satur-day, Douglas Woollett, 57, of Ripley was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and speed in zone.

Sheriff’s deputies reportedly observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on South State Street. After stopping the vehicle, the officers identified Woollett and found that his driving privileges had been revoked

Woollett will appear in Ripley Court.

HANOVER – Early Saturday, Courtney Olday, 24, of Strykersville was charged for driving while intoxicated and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Troopers stopped her on South Shore Drive in Sunset Bay after she was reportedly observed driving the wrong way on a one-way street. She reportedly failed field sobriety tests. During a check of her vehicle, troopers allegedly found she was in possession of a marijuana smoking pipe and a small baggie of marijuana. Troopers transported her to the station in Fredonia where her breath test was reported to be .10 percent.

She was issued tickets.

HANOVER – On Sunday at 1:30 a.m. Fre-donia troopers charged Pat-rick Murphy, 27, of Ham-burg for driving while intoxicated. Murphy was stopped on State Routes 5 and 20 for reportedly speeding. The troopers report Murphy’s blood alcohol content was .16 percent. He is to answer charges in Hanover Court.

  • BEMUS POINT – On Thursday, Rebecca Wojcie-chowicz, 22, of Jamestown was charged with driving while intoxicated after being stopped on Bemus-Ellery Road. She reportedly swerved from her lane several times. Troopers report she failed field sobriety tests.

She was processed at state police barracks in Jamestown. She will appear in Ellery Court.

BEMUS POINT – On Thursday, Abbey A. Benton, 23, of Frewsburg and Amanda K. Overbeck, 25, of Jamestown were charged with trespass.

At about 3:20 a.m., deputies were called to the Hotel Lenhart for a report of a female allegedly found behind the counter of the hotel without permission. Upon responding, the deputies were told two females had fled the area on foot. Deputies located the two a short time later. After identification by hotel staff, the women were charged with trespassing and issued appearance tickets.

They are scheduled for the Town of Ellery Court.

  • CHERRY CREEK – On Friday, Tyler Stakelum, 27, of Kennedy was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

A trooper responded to a report of a vehicle in a ditch on Milestrip Road and found two suspensions on Stakelum’s license.

Stakelum was arraigned in the Town of Charlotte Court, remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail, and is scheduled to appear in the Cherry Creek Court.

  • FREWSBURG – On Saturday, Steven Cline, 32, of Frewsburg was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, unlawful possession of marijuana, and prohibitions on the use and possession of a firearm.

A trooper responded to Frew Run Road for a report of a vehicle being operated erratically.

Troopers report Cline failed several field sobriety tests and they located marijuana residue and a loaded rifle inside his car. He was transported to state police headquarters in Jamestown where his breath sample was reported at .18 percent.

Cline was processed, issued tickets and released to a sober individual.

Tiffany Klee, 19, of Farnham, was charged with petit larceny on Tuesday.

Craig Frazier, 65, of One Temple Square, was charged with failure to use designated lane, operating out of class and no hand signal on Tuesday.

WESTFIELD – A 17-year-old Jamestown boy died after being pulled from Lake Erie in the town of Westfield Saturday afternoon at around 12:15 p.m

According to a press release, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team responded with the Westfield Fire Department and Westfield Police to Barcelona near Monroe Marina for the report of a possible drowning victim in Lake Erie.

Members of the dive team located Jan Carlos Delosantos-Nunez of Jamestown the water. He was taken to shore and transported by ambulance to Westfield Hospital.

Delosantos-Nunez was later flown to Children’s Hospital in Buffalo by Star Flight for further treatment.

Around 6 p.m. the teen succumbed to his injuries.

Armed robbery and shooting in the city

Two Jamestown men were arrested Friday night in separate incidents in the city of Dunkirk.

According to a press release by the Dunkirk Police Department, the first incident occurred at about 9:45 p.m. on the 100 block of King Street, where a man reported being robbed at gunpoint. A description of the suspect and the vehicle involved were obtained.

At around midnight, patrols located the suspect vehicle near Central Avenue and Second Street. As patrols approached, gunshots rang out and subjects were seen running toward the suspect vehicle.

Officers apprehended Terin Butler, 22, and Anthony Darling, 21, as they attempted to get into the vehicle.

A Dunkirk man was struck by the gunfire during the incident, but fled the scene. He was located on Fourth Street with a gunshot wound to the arm. He was uncooperative with the police and refused treatment.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Butler for second-degree robbery and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies in reference to the first incident on King Street. He is being held in the city jail pending arraignment.

Darling was arrested and charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree criminal mischief, all felonies, in reference to the second incident on Second Street and Central Avenue. The criminal mischief charge stems from the subject smashing a rear window of a patrol car while in custody. Darling was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and discharging a firearm. He is also being held in the city jail pending arraignment.

Dunkirk Police were assisted by both the Fredonia Police and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department.

Noel Jimenez, 41, of Brocton, was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right on Friday.

Raymond Santiago Rodriguez, 39, of West Second Street, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and no seatbelt on Friday.

Weyland E. Cleland, 21, of Buffalo Street was charged with petit larceny on June 14. Police responded to the report of a larceny at a local business at 10 a.m. Cleland allegedly had taken items from the village business before running away. Police located Cleland and he was released on an appearance ticket for Collins Town Court.

Shelly R. Brennan, 41, of Forestville was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right, consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle and refusal to take a breath test on June 16. Police observed Brennan’s vehicle operating in an erratic manner at 2:17 a.m. on West Main Street. The vehicle crossed the double yellow solid line and white fog line several times. During the traffic stop, Brennan was found to have an open container in her vehicle and refused a breath test. She was released on an appearance ticket for Persia Town Court.

Christopher M. Meyers, 32, of College Street was charged on a warrant on June 21. Police had previously charged Meyers with aggravated unlicensed operation and when he failed to appear in court, a warrant was issued for his arrest. He turned himself into police and was arraigned in Collins Town Court. He was released on $600 bail.

Henry R. Loucks Jr., 29, of West Main Street was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and operating without insurance on June 22. Police stopped Loucks’ vehicle on East Main Street at 7:50 p.m. after the plate reader alerted police to his vehicle. Loucks’ registration was suspended on June 1 for not having insurance. He was released on an appearance ticket for Collins Town Court.

Derrick Rogers, 30, of Buffalo was charged with loitering on June 23. Police responded to a Buffalo Street business at 6:50 p.m. for the report of Rogers panhandling from customers and refusing to leave. Rogers refused to leave when instructed by police. Rogers was arraigned in Town of Collins Court and was sent to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $250 bail.

Arlen Schindler, 30, of Bush Road was charged with petit larceny on June 23. Police responded to a Buffalo Street business for the report of Schindler allegedly stealing items from the business. Schindler was released on an appearance ticket for Collins Town Court.

Nathan D. Crassi, 18, of Erie Avenue was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and controlled substance not in the original container on June 28. During patrol on Palmer Street at 5:31 p.m. police observed two males running and acting in a suspicious manner. Crassi was found to be in possession of a suspected morphine pill and two suspected ecstasy pills. Crassi was released on an appearance ticket for Collins Town Court.

William G. Church, 26, of Lackawanna was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment on June 28. Police responded to a complaint on Perry Street at 7 p.m. where Church had allegedly left numerous threatening voicemails and text messages for a female victim. Police had previously told Church to not have contact with the victim. Church was released on an appearance ticket for Collins Town Court.

Wade F. Wampler II, 35, of Route 62 was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and operating a vehicle with a suspended registration on June 29. The license plate reader alerted to Wampler’s vehicle during routine patrol on South Chapel Street at 7:50 p.m. It was found Wampler’s registration was suspended in February and his license was suspended on June 13. He was released on an appearance ticket for Persia Town Court.

HANOVER – Eric K. Lewis, 22, of Ardsley was charged with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher and disobeying a stop sign on July 3. At 10:26 p.m. deputies observed Lewis’ vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign on Iola Drive in the town of Hanover. During the traffic stop, Lewis was found to be intoxicated. He was released on an appearance ticket for Hanover Town Court.

HANOVER – Norma J. Peterson, 43, of Angola was charged with driving while intoxicated, unsafe lane change and driving too slow on July 4. At 1:32 a.m. Peterson’s vehicle was stopped on Routes 5/20 in the town of Hanover and she was found to be intoxicated. She was released on an appearance ticket for Hanover Town Court.

BEMUS POINT – Michelle A. James, 23, of Cincinnati, Ohio was charged with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher and failure to signal turn on July 4. At 1:40 a.m. deputies stopped James’ vehicle on Main Street in Bemus Point for failure to signal a turn. James was found to be intoxicated and she was released on an appearance ticket for Ellery Town Court.

Crash leads

to DWI charge

CHAUTAUQUA – A one-vehicle accident early Wednesday led to charges against a Jamestown man. Deputies responded to the report of the accident on Morris Road in the town of Chautauqua at 2:48 a.m.

It is alleged Luke M. Fraley, 24, of Jamestown was driving when he lost control on a curve due to unsafe speed. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a street sign and a utility pole. Fraley was charged with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08 or more, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, moving from lane unsafely, speeding not reasonable and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

A check of Fraley’s license found he had a prior DWI conviction within 10 years making this arrest a felony and his license was revoked due to this prior DWI. He was released on appearance tickets.

Silver Creek motorist charged with felony DWI

BRANT – On Tuesday, Donald J. McDermott, 25, of Silver Creek was charged with felony driving while intoxicated.

Troopers from Fredonia stopped on State Route 438. They report that McDermott entered the roadway after passing a road closed sign with a barrier blocking most of the roadway. He reportedly failed field sobriety tests.

McDermott was taken to state police barracks at Fredonia for processing. He submitted to a breath test. His blood alcohol level was reported to be .10 percent.

He is to answer the charges in the Town of Brant Court on July 22.

Fireworks possession sparks charges

CHAUTAUQUA – On the eve of the Fourth of July, two men have been charged by Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies after they were found to allegedly be in possession of fireworks

Bertram Thomas Kennedy, 73, of Tequesta, Fla., and Todd B. Kennedy, 43, of Gates Mills, Ohio, were charged at 12:25 p.m. after a traffic stop on Route 430 revealed the vehicle Todd Kennedy was operating and Bertram Kennedy was a passenger in was found to contain a large quantity of fireworks. Deputies seized approximately $2,500 in fireworks and both were issued appearance tickets for unlawfully dealing with fireworks and dangerous fireworks.

Both are to be in Chautauqua Town Court.

HANOVER – Carriee L. Clarke, 39, of Dunkirk was charged with third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child following an incident on Angell Road in the town of Hanover. Clarke allegedly struck a male juvenile several times on the left side of his head during a domestic dispute on June 5. Clarke was taken into custody following an arrest warrant at her residence following the incident. She was arraigned in Hanover Town Court and was released on her own recognizance.

CHAUTAUQUA – Salem B. Zarou, 19, Denver, Colo., was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on July 2. Deputies found Zarou in possession of a small quantity of marijuana on the grounds of the Chautauqua Institution at 11:30 p.m. Zarou was released on an appearance ticket for Chautauqua Town Court.

Youth charged with stealing rifle

GOWANDA – A Gowanda youth has been charged following an investigation into two separate incidents in the village.

Jamie D. Jensen, 17, of North Water Street was charged on June 29. Police responded to a report of a burglary of a village residence on June 23 where a subject had broken a window to gain entry. Once inside, an assault rifle and a video camera used as a security camera were taken.

On June 27, police investigated a larceny on Jamestown Street where a subject had gained entry to a parked vehicle and stole a purse containing $160. Investigation led to Jensen allegedly committing both crimes.

He was charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen firearm, criminal mischief and petit larceny. Jensen was arraigned in the Persia Town Court and sent to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail. The assault rifle was recovered and returned to its owner.

KENNEDY – Dwayne Smith, 45, of Kennedy was charged Tuesday with second-degree harassment.

A trooper responded to a report of a disorderly male at a residence in Kennedy. Reportedly, Smith while in an intoxicated condition, pushed the victim.

Smith is scheduled to appear in the Town of Poland Court.

ASHVILLE – On Tuesday, Ransford Johnson, 34, of Ashville was charged with felony driving while intoxicated.

A trooper responded to a complaint of a male riding an all terrain vehicle in a reckless manner on Blockville Watts Flats Road and identified Johnson. Johnson reportedly failed several field sobriety tests and was transported to state police barracks in Jamestown. The breath sample he provided there was reported to be .22 percent. Since he had been convicted of DWI twice in the past 10 years, the charge was upgraded to a felony.

Johnson was processed, arraigned in the Town of Ellicott Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail.

Gowanda man charged twice in several hours

GOWANDA – A Gowanda man was charged twice in several hours. John H. Quiter, 52, of East Main Street was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal trespass.

At 9:45 p.m. on June 18 police responded to the roadway in front of 34 E. Main St. for a report of excessive noise and commotion. Police were at the residence earlier in the evening and had warned Quiter, who appeared highly intoxicated, to quiet down and cease his disturbing actions.

Following his release from police, Quiter allegedly forcibly entered a female’s residence against her wishes and had refused to leave at 12:30 a.m.

Quiter had left the residence prior to police arriving but was later located.

Quiter was released on appearance tickets for Collins Town Court for both charges.

Police arrest teenagers for arson

GOWANDA – Gowanda Police have charged three teenagers following an arson investigation.

According to police, a report of an arson where subjects attempted to burn down the pavilion at the Gowanda Moose Club was taken on June 17.

During the investigation, police charged three 14-year-old juveniles with arson. All were released on appearance tickets for Erie County Family Court.

HANOVER – Tennyson Twoguns Jr., 55, of Lawtons was charged with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher and failure to dim headlights Sunday. Deputies stopped Twoguns’ vehicle on Routes 5/20 at 10:28 p.m. for failure to dim its highlights and he was found to be intoxicated. He was released on appearance tickets for Hanover Town Court.

Jessica Litzinger, 22, of Stockton, was charged with petit larceny on June 26.

Rachel Pool, 25, of Gardner Street, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and speeding in zone on Friday.

City woman charged with possession

of marijuana

GERRY – On Friday, Melissa S. Pasquale, 18, of Park Avenue in Dunkirk was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.

She was stopped by a state trooper on State Route 60 for reportedly speeding. Allegedly a trooper found she possessed a plastic baggie with less than 25 grams of marijuana.

Pasquale was issued an appearance ticket.

Domestic dispute results in felony charge

CHERRY CREEK – Michael Priest, 35, of Southside Avenue was charged Saturday with third-degree criminal mischief, criminal obstruction of breathing and harassment.

Troopers were flagged down by a female resident of Southside Avenue who reported Priest, her boyfriend, had entered into a physical altercation with her during which he destroyed over $1000 in property, struck her in the head and choked her.

Priest was taken into custody, processed at state police barracks in Jamestown and arraigned in the Town of Cherry Creek Court. He was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 property bond.

SILVER CREEK – Ian T. Ward, 21, of Silver Creek, was charged Wednesday with two counts of second-degree menacing. Deputies responded to an incident at Ward’s residence at 1:52 a.m. It is alleged Ward had become involved in a verbal altercation with family members at which time he displayed a 12-gauge shotgun and was still in possession of the weapon when he was taken into custody. He was arraigned in Silver Creek Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail.

HANOVER – A 17-year-old Buffalo female was charged Wednesday with un-lawful possession of marijuana. At 12:15 a.m., she was a passenger in a vehicle stopped on Route 5/20. She was allegedly found to be in possession of marijuana and a marijuana pipe. She was released on appearance tickets.

HANOVER – Isaac P. Mallette-Lloyd, 27, of Cass-adaga, was charged Wednesday with unlawfully dealing with a child, unlawful possession of marijuana and having an open container in a motor vehicle. At 12:15 a.m., deputies stopped a vehicle on Route 5/20 for an equipment violation. Deputies found Mallette-Lloyd, a passenger in the car, had allegedly supplied alcohol to a female youth in the vehicle. He was also allegedly found to be in possession of an open container and marijuana. He was released on appearance tickets.

NORTH HARMONY – Matthew W. Chapman, 26, of Mayville, was charged Thursday with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and operating a vehicle with less than two headlights. At 12:53 a.m., deputies stopped Chap-man’s vehicle on Route 394 for having less than two working headlights. During the stop, it was allegedly found Chapman’s licensed had been suspended. He was released on an appearance ticket.
