CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
¯ PORTLAND — William O. Tolbert, 55, of Brocton, was charged with third-degree criminal mischief. Deputies responded at 4:28 a.m. Monday to Dahlberg Road in the town of Portland for a reported altercation. An investigation found that Tolbert allegedly damaged property in an amount exceeding $250. Tolbert was taken into custody and transported to Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment.
¯ CHERRY CREEK — Deputies responded to a report of a personal injury motor vehicle accident involving an ATV around 7 p.m. July 4. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with witnesses who stated the operator of the ATV fled into the woods.
Deputies did conduct a thorough search of the area and through investigation the man was located and identified as 40-year-old Brian Erickson of Jamestown. During the investigation it was found that Erickson was operating the ATV on public road without proper registration and without a license.
It was also determined that he was operating the ATV while under the influence of alcohol. He was charged with having an unregistered ATV, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, driving while intoxicated, and driving while intoxicated per se. He will be in court later.
¯ CARROLL — At around 5:35 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a report of an altercation on North Pearl Street. An investigation found that Darryl P Canvess, 38, of Jamestown, subjected another individual to unwanted physical contact and was in violation of an order of protection while doing so.
Canvess was charged with first-degree criminal contempt and second-degree harassment. Canvess was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail to be arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Program.
¯ PORTLAND — At about 4:40 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 20. Upon investigation, it was determined that a 17-year-old Westfield girl was operating a white sedan eastbound . The female left the road and struck a guard rail, causing the vehicle to roll over multiple times. The female suffered minor injuries but was flown by Stat 12 helicopter to a hospital in Erie, Pa., for further medical treatment.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by Brocton and Portland Fire Departments. No charges are expected as a result of this incident.
