JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
¯ Khalif O. Swanson Jr., 40, no address listed, was charged with second-degree strangulation, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, aggravated family offense and second-degree harassment. Officers responded at 11:11 p.m. Tuesday to the east side of the city for a reported domestic incident. An investigation found that a woman was being held against her will inside a residence. Officers forced entry inside and located Swanson, who was taken into custody. Swanson was being held in Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment.
¯ Kaula E. Frank, 29, no address listed, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Officers stopped a vehicle at 9 p.m. Monday on the north side of the city for observed traffic infractions. An investigation found that Frank was allegedly in possession of about 23.2 grams of methamphetamine. Frank was transported to Jamestown City Jail and held for arraignment in court.
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
¯ SILVER CREEK — Deputies were dispatched for a report of a violation on an order of protection early Wednesday. After an investigation it was determined that 42-year-old Michael J. Oatman from Silver Creek violated an order of protection.
Oatman was taken into custody and transported to the Hanover substation for further processing. Oatman was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for arraignment and was charged with second-degree criminal contempt. He will be in the town of Hanover Court later.
¯ CHAUTAUQUA — Around 11:33 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to an address on Tamarack Drive for a reported suspicious situation. An investigation into the incident led to Richard G. Moore, 62, being charged with second-degree criminal tampering. Moore was issued an appearance ticket and answer the charge later in town court.
¯ CHAUTAUQUA — A man who was driving an unregistered Go Kart on a town road with a child Tuesday afternoon is facing a number of charges.
Around 4:47 p.m. Deputies of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office conducted a vehicle and traffic stop. The operator was identified as Brian J. Little, who had a juvenile passenger under the age of 15. Through an investigation it was determined that Little, 37, of the town, was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. He was transported to the Mayville Sheriff’s office and later released on charges of having an unregistered motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and Leandra’s Law felony driving while intoxicated. He will be in town court later.
¯ RIPLEY — At about 8:25 a.m., the Ripley Fire Department along with several mutual aid departments responded to a structure fire at 12 Loomis St. Ripley fire department would later request assistance from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigation Team to conduct an origin and cause investigation. Through an investigation, it was determined the fire was caused by the unsafe use of a fuel oil heat source. There were no injuries sustained as a result of the fire. The fire is being ruled accidental.
