Forestville man charged in sale

of AR-15

SHERIDAN — A Forestville resident is facing charges for selling a stolen AR-15 rifle.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies reported Thursday that on March 14, an investigation was conducted by the Criminal Investigation Division. It was found that Franklin J. Silvagnia, 24, was knowingly in possession of a stolen rifle and had sold it to another individual. The AR-15 was recovered at a later date and time in a narcotics search warrant conducted by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force.

Silvagnia will answer his charges of criminal sale of a semiautomatic rifle and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property in town of Sheridan court.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ MAYVILLE –Around 12:35 a.m. Monday while investigating another incident, deputies observed a male going through an unlocked vehicle on Sea Lion Drive. Before deputies could make contact with the subject, he ran away and could not be located. Through an investigation it was determined that the subject was James D. Mawhir, 33, of Mayville. Mawhir was charged with petit larceny and trespass and will be in the town of Chautauqua Court at a later time.

¯ IRVING — At 1:19 a.m. April 16, deputies responded to a reported altercation. Through an investigation it was determined that Jamar Fountain, 35, of Irving, operated a vehicle while intoxicated just prior to the altercation. It was also discovered that at the time of operation there were several subjects under the age of 16 in the vehicle. Fountain was charged with aggravated felony DWI Leandra’s Law and DWI. Fountain was released and will be in town of Hanover Court later.
