Dunkirk cops make Fourth of July drug arrest

Dunkirk police didn’t have to travel far for an Independence Day drug arrest: The incident literally started on their doorstep. Around 7:56 p.m., when police were focused on managing the throngs of people arriving for the fireworks display, officers got called to their Fourth Street headquarters for a domestic dispute going on outside. When officers arrived, a male subject fled on foot, but was taken into custody after a brief pursuit. Village of Mayville hires code officer

MAYVILLE – Village leaders are moving ahead with their own code enforcement. It was announced that the Mayville Village Board hired Daniel Delcamp of Mayville as a part-time code enforcement officer at a rate of $28 an hour. His appointment took effect Monday, July 14. He also is the code officer for Cassadaga. According to Trustee Mark Perry, the village has budgeted him for 19.5 hours a week. Deputies said she was found sleeping in a vehicle in a parking lot of a village business on Route 430 around 7 a.m. She allegedly had narcotics in her possession. A Jamestown man has been charged with first-degree grand larceny after allegedly stealing more than $1 million from his employer. Paul A. Weinstein, 60, of Jamestown was charged Monday by city police officers at Ben Weitsman of Jamestown, 610 W. Eighth St., Jamestown, after an investigation by Jamestown police and the Chautauqua County District Attorney's Office. Jamestown man killed in motorcycle crash

A Jamestown man has been killed in a motorcycle accident Sunday afternoon. Benny L. Salva, 35, of Jamestown was riding his motorcycle on Barrett Avenue near McKinley Avenue at the time of the accident. Jamestown police say the motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the accident, which took place at 12:58 p.m. A portion of Barrett Avenue was closed to traffic while police investigated the accident. CHERRY CREEK CAR FIRES BEING PROBED CHERRY CREEK — At 6:09 a.m. Sunday, the Cherry Creek Fire Department responded to Dredge Ditch Road in the Town of Cherry Creek for a reported vehicle fire. The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was requested to the scene to conduct an origin and cause fire investigation.
