Bridge closure begins today
SHERMAN — County Bridge 879 on Route 4 in the town of Sherman, between Routes 15 and 76, will be closed to all traffic effective today. The closure is for replacement of the bridge. A detour will be posted, and the closure will remain in effect until the bridge replacement is complete and the barricades and signs are removed.
Angola Summer Lawn Chair Concert
The Angola Park and Gazebo Committee and the Village of Angola present a concert in Centennial Park, Angola from 7 to 9 p.m. Refreshments are available from the Evans Township Lions Club. The use of masks and social distancing is encouraged. Crash Cadillac will returned to open the season, featuring Linda Giancarlo on vocals. The event is sponsored by Lake Shore Federal Credit Union.
South Dayton concert tonight
SOUTH DAYTON — From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today, music concert in the South Dayton Gazebo on the Village Green. Music by Keepin’ It Country featuring Country Music Hall of Fame Inductee, Jack Ellis. Rain location is American Legion Pavilion, 4 Mill St. Bring your lawn chairs. Visit the Depot Movie Museum.
Food pantry to be open Saturday
On Saturday, July 17, the Fredonia Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. until noon at Fredonia Presbyterian Church at 219 Central Ave. The pantry serves the needs of residents of Fredonia, area code 14063, Pomfret, Sheridan, and Laona. All guests receive one or more bags of non-perishable food. Number of bags given out depends on family size.
Church plans yard sale Saturday
St. John’s United Church of Christ, 733 Central Ave., Dunkirk, will hold a yard sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m on Saturday. The sale will be indoors.
There is a assortment of sale items, including baby clothes in excellent condition, men’s extra large clothing, and other assorted clothing, housewares, books, puzzles, etc. Park on Central Avenue in front of the church, or in the parking lot with entry on Eagle Street.
Jazz concert Saturday in Lily Dale
The sounds of American jazz will fill the Lily Dale Auditorium on Saturday. Carl Hultman and his Jazz Friends from Erie, Pa., are set to perform on the historic stage from 8-10 p.m. Hultman has been a prominent musician on the Erie jazz scene for 40 years, playing a range of styles from bebop to cool jazz. His jazz partner, Barb Swartz, has perfect pitch for vocals and harmonies. They will be joined by Dave Callagan, one of Erie’s most popular tenor sax players. Hultman and Friends will play in the stately Lily Dale Auditorium built in 1883. The auditorium has been a venue for lectures and musical performances for 148 years. The seating capacity is 1,200. Tickets for the concert are $10 at the door.
Murray Hose 4 meeting set
A meeting of the Murray Hose No. 4 Volunteer Fire Company will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, July 12, in the company meeting room. Company officers are asked to report at 6:30 p.m.
