Can, bottle drive boosts Troop 267
Local Fredonia Scout Troop 267 is hosting a can and bottle drive fundraiser. Residents can donate their empties all year round to Can Kings Redemption Center located at 112-114 E. Main St., Fredonia. When you drop off your empties let Can Kings know you are supporting Scout Troop 267.

‘SATURDAY, JULY 10
Audubon MAPS bird banding demonstration
Drop in between 6 a.m. to noon to observe the capture of birds in “mist” nets, fitting them with identification bands, measuring, weighing and releasing them. Come to the pavilion on the West Side of the Audubon Community Nature Center, 1600 Riverside Drive, Jamestown close to Route 62. The demonstration is free, but donations are appreciated. Do not bring dogs.
BCS Alumni golf tournament
The tournament begins at 8 a.m. at The tournament has an 8 a.m. start at Pine Hurst Golf Course in Westfield. $70 per golfer includes golf, prizes and a hot dogs and hamburger lunch at the turn, skins available. There will be 50/50 drawings and some nice raffle prizes. Register as a team of four, or individuals will randomly be assigned to a team. Contact Jon Espersen at 467-8328.
Fredonia Farmers’ Market

Westfield Farmers’ Market
The Westfield Farmers and Artisans Market is from 9 a.m. to 2 p .m. at Moore P ark, 23 Elm St., Westfield. Shoppers find locally grown produce, meats, jarred products, baked goods, arts, crafts, published literary works by local authors. Prepared foods and beverages available. South Dayton Volunteer Fire Department 1975 and older farm stock antique tractor pull
The event will be held at 34 Maple St., South Dayton. $5 admission fee, $10 hitch fees for pulls, which begin at noon. Gates open at 9, scales open at 10, kids’ pedal pull at 11, pulled pork sandwiches and potatoes for sale beginning at 11:30 a.m. The Firebells will have a refreshment stand. St. John’s United Church of Christ yard sale
St. John’s UCC,m 753 Central Ave, Dunkirk, will hold a yard sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. In case of rain, it will be held indoors. It features a wide assortment of baby clothes, men’s extra large clothing and other assorted apparel, housewares, books, etc. Park in from of the church, or in the parking lot and enter from Eagle Street.
Jamestown Public Market

Audubon Little Explorers program – “Scutes and Scales”
Children ages 3 to 8 are invited to attend with an adult from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Audubon Community Nature Center, 1600 Riverside Road, Jamestown. The costs are $8 for adults, $6 for members and children 3 to 8. Paid reservations are required by July 8.
Lakeshore Humane Society open adoption
The Lakeshore Humane Society, 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk, will hold open adoption hours from noon to 3 p.m. Masks covering the nose and mouth must be worn at all times on the grounds of LHS. Visiting groups are limited to two per family/visit. Guests must wait in vehicles until they can be admitted. For details, call 672-1991.
Brocton Central School Alumni Association Weidner’s chicken and rib barbecue
The Brocton Central School Alumni Association will hold a Weidner’s chicken and rib barbecue at the Brocton Legion Post 434, with proceeds benefiting BCS scholarships. Dining options are from 4 to 6 p.m. and include drive through to pick up, or park and eat inside. The meal consists of Weidner’s barbecued chicken and ribs, buttered spuds, coleslaw, roll and butter with a cookie compliments of Emily’s Bakery. Tickets are $15 per dinner and can be purchased at the Legion on Thursday or Friday nights or by calling Kathy Peters at 792-7582.
Riverside Saturday
The live band “We Speak Canadian” will perform at 7 p.m. outside at the National Comedy Center, 203 W. Second St., Jamestown. The movie “Sister Act” begins on the outdoor screen at 8:45 p.m.
Jazz concert at Lily Dale
Carl Hultman and his Jazz Friends (Barb Swartz and Dave Callagan) from Erie will perform on the Lily Dale historic stage from 8 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.

The Cassadaga Farmers’ Market will take place from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Cassadaga Village Common at the corner of Route 60 and Maple Avenue. Roberto Fred will be back with his selection of fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables and other food items.
Lakeshore Street Rod Association Harbor Cruise
The Lakeshore Street Rod Association, with cooperation from the City of Dunkirk, presents the annual Harbor Cruise from noon to 5 p.m. at Point Gratiot Park in Dunkirk. All cruise cars are welcome.There will be music by D.J. Family Tradition, drinks and rest rooms available, a chicken barbecue by Mike Porpiglia, prize raffles all day, and a 50/50 raffle. Cassadaga Lakes Summer Concert series
Pedro and the Smooth Cats, playing jazz, blues, R & B and more, will perform from 5 to 7 p.m. on the Cassadaga Beach floating stage, located on Park Avenue in the village. The event is sponsored by Just Breathe Massage and Savvy Hair Design. Food is available from Super Duper Catering or bring food and beverages. Local artist Roxanne Astry and local author Robert John Terreberry will be present. Bring a chair or blanket. Attend by land or boat.

Telehealth access point open house
The VFW Post 5007, 20 Sand Hill Road, Gowanda, will hold an open house event to introduce the ATLAS (Accessing Telehealth through Local Areas Station) site through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. ATLAS sites bring VA care to veterans who live in rural areas or with limited access to the internet and can eliminate hours of travel time to the nearest VA facility. The public is welcome to attend the open house.
