Sons of Legion to meet Tuesday
BROCTON — A special meeting of the Sons of the Legion, Squad 434 Brocton, will be on Tuesday. The meeting will be held at the Brocton Legion starting at 7 p.m. Plans for the children’s Christmas party will be finalized. All members are encouraged to attend.
Brocton-Portland Seniors are planning ahead
President Margaret Jagoda opened the October meeting of the Brocton-Portland Seniors and Tom DeJoe led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. Grace was offered by Marie Leone before the spaghetti and ccccw catered lunch was enjoyed by all. Before lunch costumes were judged for originality and creativity and Little Miss Riding Hood came in first place!
The committee of Rita Bennett, Rosie and Laurel Giambra, Carm Johnson, Marie Leone and DeJoe were thanked and the Secretary report was then read, approved by DeJoe and seconded by Betty Eric. Treasurer’s report was then given, approved by Bob Jagoda and seconded by Pauline Johnson.
A variety of community dinners to be held was announced and the secretary informed the group of cards sent on behalf of the Brocton Portland Seniors.
The Nomination Committee will bring a slate of potential officers to the Nov. 30 meeting to be voted on. The committee for the day will be: DeJoe, Olive Becker, Linda Riley and June Woollett. In place of a program members are asked to participate in the chinese auction whereas they should bring their items to the John W. Dill Post 434 on Monday, Nov. 29 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. p.m.
Congratulations to the Jagodas on celebrating 40 years of marriage. Birthday wishes were given to Edie Seekings, Judy Travis, Reverend Clara Wilder, Bev Burton, Marian Delcamp, Leone and Johnson.
Reservations for the beef on weck catered luncheon must be given to Becker at 716-679-5125 by Wednesdsay. Hope to see you then!
Fredonia legion group meets Tuesday
Sons of the American Legion Squadron 59 will be holding its monthly meeting, Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Post 59, 156 E Main St., Fredonia.
On the agenda will be a review of the very successful Turkey Bingo fundraiser held on Nov. 13.
The Sons of the American Legion, is an organization made up of male descendants from veterans of World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Military Operations of Lebanon, Grenada, Panama and from the Persian Gulf War/War on Terrorism. Members support programs in Veterans Rehabilitation, Children and Youth, Student Scholarships and Community Affairs. Membership now numbers nearly 30,000 within the Detachment of New York with over 350,00 members nationwide.
Meetings are held on the last Tuesday of month. Anyone interested in joining can stop by the post.
