Conservancy plans foliage walk

CHAUTAUQUA — The Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy will be holding a leisurely, guided fall foliage walk along the beautiful Steve Hirschberg Nature Trail at the Salomon Family Nature Preserve at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15. The preserve is located on Morris Road in the town of Chautauqua and was expanded in 2021 to 58 acres, thanks to a generous land donation from Rada Salomon. CWC Executive Director John Jablonski will lead the walk and discuss the importance of conserving forests, such as those found at the Salomon site, throughout the watersheds of the Chautauqua region in order to maintain healthy stream and lake water quality conditions.

Attendees should dress for the weather and wear hiking boots or waterproof shoes appropriate for possible wet trail conditions. Directions to and more information on the preserve can be found on the CWC’s website at chautauquawatershed.org. The walk is free for CWC members, with a suggested donation of $5 per person or $10 per family for non-members.
