Auxiliary chooses Girl State candidates CASSADAGA — The Cassadaga American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1280 held an informal meeting last month with nine members attending. Paula Pattison reported that we held one funeral luncheon for the family of Squadron 1280 member Kurt Scott. She continues to send get well and sympathy cards as needed. Legion Post 59 sets Chili Cook-Off American Legion Post 59, located at 156 E. Main St., Fredonia, will hold a Chili Cook-Off on Sunday at 2 p.m. The event is open to the public. There will be trophies, prizes and bragging rights for the following categories: traditional chili and open category — chowder, gumbo, soup or side dish. The cost is $5 for entry, taste/judge. United Seniors to meet March 9 United Senior Citizens will meet Monday, March 9 for the first meeting of 2026. The lunch will consist of the traditional Irish fare: Corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots and rye bread and surprise dessert, coffee, tea and water. Family breakfast this Sunday Forest Lodge 166 F&AM will be holding its monthly Sunday Family Breakfast on Sunday, Feb. 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This all-you-can-eat breakfast will consist of eggs made to order, pancakes or French toast, sausages, fruit cocktail, juice, milk, coffee and tea.
