Council meeting Tuesday canceled Tuesday’s Dunkirk Common Council meeting was canceled. In a notice sent to the OBSERVER, “technical issues” were blamed for the cancellation. The mayor told the OBSERVER that as she understood it, one of the members of council wanted to attend the meeting remotely using Zoom. However, City Hall was having technical difficulties with the computer network connection. Wdowiasz also stated it was the council’s decision to cancel the meeting. Overnight closure of I-86 Bridge over Chautauqua Lake The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the bridge carrying Interstate 86 eastbound over Chautauqua Lake, between the towns of North Harmony and Ellery, Chautauqua County, will be closed from 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, to 6 a.m. Thursday, April 9, to facilitate an ongoing rehabilitation project. Village planning brush pickup starting Monday The village of Fredonia will be picking up limbs and yard waste beginning Monday at 7 a.m. Collection will continue until every village street has been completed. Bags and brush are collected separately by different crews. All items for collection must be at the curb no later than 7 Monday morning.
