County reports 112 new cases of COVID

The county Health Department on Friday reported 112 new cases of COVID-19. The number of people with the virus in the hospital remains at 24, a day after it doubled. Of the new cases, from information collected Thursday, 45 came from people residing in the Jamestown zip code. Other areas of note: 14 in Fredonia, eight in Dunkirk and five each in Falconer and Ashville. COVID hospitalizations double in Chautauqua County

Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 and are currently in the hospital doubled in one day, according to information provided by the county Health Department on Thursday. Hospitalizations went from 12, where it has largely stayed since last week, to 24 based on information collected Wednesday. The county has noted that the number doesn't mean someone is being treated solely for COVID, but rather they have been admitted and have tested positive for the virus. The county also recorded 87 new confirmed cases of the virus.

The Chautauqua County Department of Health reported 66 new cases of COVID-19 as well as a new virus-related death. The information was collected Tuesday. The county Health Department recorded 153 new cases of COVID-19. The statistics are from information collected Friday through Monday. The uptick in new COVID-19 cases in Chautauqua County continues as 56 were reported Friday. The number of people with the virus in the hospital also saw a bump. There are currently 281 active cases, 500 people in quarantine and a seven-day positivity rate of 8.5%.
