Jamestown police have identified the victim who died in Monday’s shooting as a Dunkirk resident.

According to a news release issued Wednesday morning, Jamestown Police Department responded to a residence at 839 Prendergast Ave. for a reported gunshot complaint. An investigation revealed that three people were involved during what appears to be an isolated incident.

Trevon D. Tripp, 26, was located deceased in the apartment building and the two other individuals were being treated for serious injuries. Anyone with information regarding the homicide investigation is asked to call the Jamestown Police Department Tip Line at 716-483-TIPS (8477).

In response to Tripp’s death, Ashley Curtis has begun a GoFundMe account. “I am the aunt of Trevon. Trevon was taken from us unexpectedly on (March 18) by way of homicide. Anyone who knew “Bando,” knew he had a heart of gold and would help anybody that he could!

“We were not prepared for this, he leaves behind two toddlers and his mother that recently had major brain surgery and is unable to work. We are asking for anyone that sees fit in their heart to help with funeral and memorial costs it will be greatly appreciated any extra will be given to his two children.

“If you can’t donate please just say a prayer for my family thank you in advance!

In addition to city police, Chautauqua County Emergency Management Services, Chautauqua County District Attorney Jason Schmidt and Jamestown Fire Department responded to the scene.

In August 2022, a shooting on the same 800 block occurred that was a fatality.
