NORTH COLLINS --- A fatal crash over the weekend is being investigated by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit, according to Sheriff John Garcia. At approximately 6 a.m. on Saturday, deputies responded to the area of 11476 Sisson Highway. A witness reported that a dump truck rolled over and struck a tree. The operator, a 59-year-old Gowanda man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials said no further information is available at this time.
A Brocton man has been charged with forcible touching by Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies. Dale F. Parks, 68, of Brocton was charged Tuesday, according to a police report. Deputies received a complaint on Oct. 17, 2025, that Parks allegedly had inappropriate contact with another person. After an investigation into the allegations, investigators with the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office charged Parks, who was given an appearance ticket to be in Portland Town Court later.
An inmate who had injured a counselor and officer at the Lakeview Shock Incarceration facility in Brocton during a brutal incident in February has struck again. State Sen. George Borrello, R-Sunset Bay, said the inmate --- who was transferred to Attica Correctional Facility --- assaulted six officers there, sending one to the hospital.
