Photography exhibit opens Saturday at Barker Museum

The Darwin R. Barker Museum is opening a new exhibit to highlight the history of photography in Fredonia. On Saturday, May 21, Fredonia In Focus will showcase photographs of familiar places through the many changes since the village’s first daguerreotypes were captured in 1841, including Main Street when it was filled with horse-drawn carriages by day, or lit by the nation’s first gas-powered street lights by night. This exhibit will present the changes to Fredonia’s architecture, fashion, and transportation, as well as to the photographic processes which recorded the images on display. Fredonia in Focus is a free exhibit and will be open until November.
