Fredonia welcomes new village clerk

Fredonia has a new village clerk, Makayla Yacklon.

Yacklon was approved as a part-time clerk at a rate of $18 per hour in a Nov. 24 Board of Trustees meeting. Her first day in the Village Hall office was Dec. 1. Yacklon’s office hours are listed on the village website as Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Mayor Michael Ferguson introduced Yacklon a couple days later at her first public obligation, a Board of Trustees workshop.

Sitting to his right, Ferguson welcomed her “as a new player to the team.”

The mayor said, “We welcome you. Don’t worry about the mess down there, we’ll take care of it.”

Ferguson noted that Yacklon is “stepping into big shoes.” Previous Village Clerk Annemarie Johnston, highly regarded by village officials, sadly passed away earlier this year.

Ferguson concluded that Yacklon is “anxious to get ready.”

Yacklon declined to provide comment for this article.

Starting at $4.00/week.
