DUNKIRK: Neva A. Woolley, 90, a resident of Chautauqua Nursing & Rehab Center, Dunkirk, formerly of Silver Creek/South Dayton Road, Forestville, died Friday, October 27, 2023 at her residence.
She was born in the Town of Perrysburg on August 1, 1933, the daughter of the late Harry Grant and Vivian I. (Willson) Kreger.
She was a graduate of Brocton Central School, Class of 1950 and worked as District Treasurer for Pine Valley Central School District, South Dayton, for 24 years, retiring in 1988. Neva and her late husband, Norris, also co-ownedand operated a dairy farm until 1964 on Silver Creek/ South Dayton Road.
She was a member and Past Master of both Villenova Grange 604, South Dayton and Chautauqua County Pomona Grange 3, was a member of New York State Grange, where she was Deputy State Master, State Junior Deputy, State Youth Director, Superintendent of the Grange Building at the New York State Fair and Co-Chairman for hosting the National Grange 2004 fund. Neva was a also a member of the Hilltop Spinners, the United Methodist Church and was Superintendent of the Grange Department at the Chautauqua County Fair. In 1968, she worked with James Gould, former 4-H agent, to organize the 4-H Sheep program. She also enjoyed knitting and spinning.
Survivors include two sons Stephen Woolley, of Forestville; Daniel (Valorie) Woolley, of Camillus, NY; a sister, Shirley Kreger, of Colorado Springs, CO; and son-in-law Fritz Wilms. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Norris V. Woolley, whom she married on July 27, 1952 in the Congregational Church in Portland and who died December 30, 2007, a daughter DeSylvia Dwyer-Wilms, who died September 28, 2020, two brothers Calvin H. and Ernest Kreger an infant sister Irene Kreger, two sisters Betty Parment and Norene Holcomb and son-in-law William Dwyer Jr.
Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Thursday morning from 11 AM- 1 PM from where Funeral Services will be held at 1 o’clock with Rev. James D. Hankey, officiating. Interment will follow in Villenova Cemetery, Town of Villenova.
