Ursula Eva Anna Hedvig Heinzel Wiemer

MAYVILLE- Ursula Eva Anna Hedvig Heinzel Wiemer, 92, of Mayville, passed away at her home, with family at her side, on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, following a brief illness.

She was born July 12, 1931, in Hirshberg, Germany, the daughter of the late Rudolf and Else Sorauer Heinzel.

Ursula was a Master Photographer. She and her late husband, Hans, owned and operated Photography by Wiemer from 1968 to 1980 and are fondly remembered for photographing more than 200 weddings in the area. In 1970 they started Modern Cottages by Wiemer, a small cottage rental operation on Chautauqua Lake. In 1979, Ursula and family partnered in purchasing WemWan Chu Cottages next door to their home and in 1980 purchased We Wo Ka Cottages. 2023mmmarked 53 years of family vacations being hosted by Ursula and her family on the shores of Lake Chautauqua.

Ursula had been a member of Hurlbut Memorial Community United Methodist Church in Chautauqua, a Girl Scout leader, and was a member of the Ski Patrol at the former Eagle RidgemSki Resort.

She was an avid reader and photographer and also enjoyed world traveling, boating, and snorkeling. Most of all she enjoyed time with her family.

Ursula is survived by her three children: Marion (Frank) Oliva of Westfield, Peter Hans Wiemer of Mayville (Catherine Sitek Rand), and Barb (Bruce) Davis of Mayville; nine grandchildren, Christopher and Michael Oliva, Jenna Wiemer (Aaron Frentz), Justin, and Jessica Wiemer, Cassie (Jamie) Farrell, Alex (Carly) Davis, Jacob and Elizabeth Davis; two great-grandchildren: Jackson and Cecilia Farrell; one sister inlaw, Rosemary Heineman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hans-Georg Max Wiemer who passed away on December 31, 2015.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday, October 26, 2023, the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S. Erie St).

A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. John Bowen will officiate. Burial will be in the Chautauqua Cemetery.
