Thirty years ago — 1992

The sale of local radio stations WDOE/WCQA to a group which owns radio stations in Jamestown and DuBois, Pa., was made official when the Federal Communications Commission granted approval of a license transfer on Dec. 31, 1991. The new “North County Broadcasting Co.” purchased the station for $650,000 from the owners, the Chautauqua Broadcasting Corp.

Forty years ago — 1982

Jeff Saeli, 17, foster son of Mr. and Mrs. James Andrew of 3 King Road, Forestville has been named the Student of the Week at the BOCES LoGuidice Center in Fredonia. A second-year student in the food services program at BOCES, Jeff is a senior at Forestville Central School. He enjoys track and his hobbies are reading, writing and hunting.

Fifty years ago — 1972

Dr. Allen H. Benton, head of the biology department at Fredonia State University College, has been chosen to head the newly organized McNally Sanctuary Committee. Efforts have begun for Nature Conservancy Inc. to buy 11.1 acres of land owned by Mrs. James D. McNally on West Lake Road, Dunkirk and possibly additional property nearby. This will be posted and guarded as a wildlife sanctuary.
