Among the 93-year-old clowns still active in the world today is Ann Miller of Cassadaga, who delighted young and old alike Halloween night with her antics. Mrs. Miller went out trick and treating and later showed up, still in costume, at the Cassadaga Fire Department-sponsored Halloween Party held at the Cassadaga Elementary School and paraded with the sixth grade and older group.
Forty years ago — 1981
Fredonia resident Jean Grant told Fredonia police that a sewing needle was found inside a candy bar given to her son while he was trick-or-treating in the village of Fredonia on Halloween. She said that her son went to houses on Water, Eagle, Norton and Canadaway streets. Grant also stated that he was offered beer as a treat by one occupant of Water Street.
Fifty years ago — 1971
Local artist Robert Harrington of Dunkirk is showing his paintings at Roof’s Restaurant in Silver Creek through the month of November.
