Thirty years ago — 1992

Nearly $300,000 in public money from various sources has been spent to help bring the Containerboard recycling plant to Chautauqua County since the project’s inception in 1988. Containerboard has been trying for the past four years to build a $210 million plant to recycle corrugated cardboard. The plant will employ about 135 people in full-time jobs.

Forty years ago — 1982

There’s a brand new restaurant in town. It’s the Village Restaurant in Fredonia at the former Dickenson’s location. The restaurant has been completely remodeled and employs 25 hard-working, eager-toplease people. The new owner is Samuel DelPopolo.

Forty years ago — 1972

The Rev. Charles Johnson, pastor of the Silver Creek Baptist Church, has been ordained to the gospel ministry. He has served as pastor of the church for more than a year, coming to Silver Creek from Ripley.
