Thirty years ago — 1994
Robert W. Lyczkowski, a chemical engineer in the Energy Systems Division of Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne, Ill., has been named a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Mr. Lyczkowski has authored 47 technical publications and holds two patents. A 1959 Dunkirk High School graduate, he is the son of Joanne Lyczkowski of Dunkirk and the late Walter Lyczkowski.
Forty years ago — 1984
A Jamestown couple has purchased the West Sheridan Furniture Store from A.J. Van Poortvliet, its founder and owner since 1957. Ronald and Glenda Barber of 129 Niagara St., Jamestown took control of the store on July 1. Mr. Van Poortvliet, who will retire, said he received several offers for the Sheridan store since he put it on the market last fall. Mr. Barber, a Dunkirk native, has a background in furniture sales, including a 17-year employment with Caprino’s of Jamestown.

Liberty Bank announced the appointment of Charles Frazita as manager of its Dunkirk-Fredonia Plaza office.
