GOWANDA Keeping sports spirits bright

The OBSERVER's View

Lights. Camera. Action.

All that may have to wait, but for now it is worth celebrating the work done on the baseball and softball fields in the Gowanda Central School district. Last week, administrators, coaches and players gathered — in the evening — to brighten what has been a trying year.

Its new facilities — when action returns — can take place when the sun sets. During the ceremony, Superintendent Dr. Robert Anderson commented on his appreciation for the board and the community for supporting the fields.

“I think this is going to be a tremendous field for years to come,” he said. “I’m really excited to see the boys and girls out here playing baseball and softball.”

COVID-19 has put a damper on some sports. Hopefully, when spring arrives, high school teams will be able to use these fine facilities.
