ARKWRIGHT Small town request for some respect
The OBSERVER’s View
Audrey Buck did not attend an Arkwright Town Board meeting this month to ask residents to stay away from a local gem. She just wants some consideration.
Buck, whose property includes Arkwright Falls, says repairing a bridge on Ball Road will make access easier to the land that can create problems. She and her daughter, Vanessa Buck, shared traumatic experiences like men with guns and dogs approaching their home and even a trespasser without clothes on appearing near their home.
The family has involved law enforcement on multiple occasions to deal with trespassers. “You’re never going to be able to keep people away from a beautiful place like Arkwright Falls,” said Vanessa Buck. “No matter what we do, people are going to trespass. But I’d like to figure out somehow that it can be less traumatizing to our property.”
Town officials offered to put up no parking and tow-away signs. That may be one solution. Another would be to make access to the site illegal after sundown.
While there is no simple answer, it’s obvious those who are visiting the falls need to have a bit of respect.
