Gowanda wrestling falls to Southwestern, 36-23

GOWANDA — The Gowanda Panthers wrestling team lost a CCAA Div. 1 match on Wednesday, falling to Southwestern, 36-23.

With the Gowanda team dealing with illness and injuries, they still were able to put up some good fights on Wednesday.

Southwestern’s Dagon Bryant won a decision over Ethan Forth, 4-2 at 138, but then Gowanda’s Dominik Rodriguez followed that with a pin at 152.

After Southwestern’s Dantae Hoose won a 4-0 decision over Ryan Gernatt, Maddox Browning won the final match via technical fall, finishing the match with Southwestern in the lead.

Gowanda (6-14) will be back in action this weekend at the Catt./Little Valley tournament, and will host their final dual meet of the season against Catt./Little Valley on Wednesday.

Gowanda will also wrestle in their Class D meets at Eden High School on Feb. 2.
