70 girls attend The Basketball Camp of the Southern Tier

PANAMA — Several competition champions were honored on the final day of The Basketball Camp of the Southern Tier.

In its first year back since the coronavirus pandemic, over 70 girls attended this year’s camp.

Carli Short was the JV free throw champion and Raelynn Emery was the varsity champion.

Sydney Williams was the varsity rapid fire champion and Emma Oehlbeck was the JV winner.

McKenna Kolstee was the varsity skills champion and Sydney Cannon was the JV champion.

Cannon also won the JV 1-on-1 contest while Emma Lewis was the varsity winner.

In the 2-on-2 contest, Oehlbeck and Gillian Daniels were the JV winners while Evie Woodis and Carley Daniels were the varsity champions.

Peyton Gibbs, Kolstee and Ella Early were the varsity 3-on-3 winners while Ella Goetzinger, Maleri Short and Carli Short were the JV champions.

Woodis was named the varsity most improved player and Elsa Thomas was the JV honoree.

Sportsmanship awards were given to Kaitlyn Hosmer, Emmary Goetzinger, Hannah Cook, Mae Machemer, Oehlbeck, Addison McCray and Cayla Damcott.

Campers honored on the All-Iron Woman Team were Gracie Woleen, Cannon, Gillian Daniels, Carley Daniels, Lewis and Kaylee Tarr.

The 5-on-5 champions were “St. Bonaventure” coached by Paige Gratto. Team members were Sydney Williams, Reagan Weingart, McKenna Lindemuth, Gibbs, Anabella Larson, Oehlbeck, Carli Short, Eva McCray and Elizabeth Hammond.

Nicole Peterson was honored as a BCANY Assistant Coach of the Year and Tanleigh Bestine was honored as a BCANY Top 50 player. Gratto was also honored as a Chautauqua Fusion Scholarship winner.
