Pine Valley falls in overtime

CLYMER — An awful fourth quarter did not end up being too much for Clymer to overcome Friday night.

The Pirates went 0 for 11 from the field and turned the ball over five times as Pine Valley outscored them 18-0 in the final eight minutes, but Clymer got the last laugh in overtime en route to a 56-55 nonleague victory.

Trailing 55-54 with 7 seconds remaining, the Pirates inbounded under the basket and Jonathan Massing hit a shot in the lane for a one-point lead. After a timeout, the Panthers had a look at a game-winning 3-pointer, but Kaden Beckerink blocked the shot to preserve the win.

Beckerink finished with 22 points and seven rebounds, while Massing had 16 points and 19 rebounds.

Jon Sheldon led Pine Valley with 27 points, including 6 in the fourth quarter, while Nick Seabolt added 15 points on five 3-pointers.
