Weiskerger throws SC to win over Cards; Lucas lead ‘Billies

SILVER CREEK — Rylee Weiskerger threw a three-hitter with 14 strikeouts as Silver Creek beat Randolph 9-2 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 East play on Monday.

Kyla Ziegler and Weiskerger each had two hits with Ziegler driving in two runs for the Black Knights (6-1, 3-0).

Abigail Pitts threw a six-hitter with 15 strikeouts in the circle for the Cardinals (1-3, 0-1). Sadie Steward had a pair of RBIs in the loss.

TROJANS ROLL BY DUNKIRK

Maddie Burnett scattered five hits, walked five and struck out 11 to lead Southwestern past Dunkirk 10-2 in Division 1 West action.

Alexis Beckerink led the Trojans (3-3, 2-2) going 3 for 5 with a triple, two RBIs and three runs scored; Arianna Silakowski went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs; Eliana Barone hit a triple while going 2 for 4; and Peyton Lillie finished 2 for 4.

Dunkirk’s Kassidy Donisi pitched all seven innings for the Marauders and struck out five while walking one and giving up three earned runs.

McKenna Curry and Eva Colon-DeJesus scored the runs for the Marauders (1-5, 1-3).

LUCAS DOMINATES FOR FREDONIA

Jordan Lucas was nearly unhittable again Monday.

Just one run was enough to make her a winner.

Lucas threw a one-hitter with 16 strikeouts, two walks and a hit batter as Fredonia edged Olean 1-0 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West softball action.

The Huskies’ Emma Edwards singled with two outs in the third inning and stole second, but Lucas struck out the next batter to end the frame.

Anna Bates walked with one out in the top of the fourth inning for Olean (2-2, 2-1). She went to second on a passed ball, but Lucas struck out the final two batters of the inning to keep the game scoreless.

The Hillbillies (5-0, 4-0) scored their lone run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jaelyn Davis hit a one-out triple to deep left field and scored on Ellie VanDette’s two-strike squeeze bunt that went for a single. Cassie Kramer followed with a hit-and-run single that left runners at second and third, but a strikeout and a lineout ended the threat.

Lucas then retired the next six Huskies in order before Bates led off the top of the seventh with another walk. After a popped-up bunt attempt, Lucas finished the game with her final two strikeouts.

Lucas also singled in the game as Fredonia finished with just four hits off the Huskies’ Emma Edwards, who struck out 12 and walked one.

GNADZINSKI POWERS WESTFIELD

WESTFIELD — Eva Gnadzinski went 3 for 4 with a double, a home run and two RBIs to lead Westfield past Frewsburg 9-2 in Division 2 West play.

Madyson Burgess also went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, while Drew Ernewein doubled, tripled and drove in two runs for the Wolverines (5-3, 5-1).

Gnadzinski also threw six innings of three-hit ball in the circle, striking out five and walking two.

Teghan Trocki doubled and drove in a run for the Bears (2-4, 1-4), who finished with three hits. Trocki and Teagan Nazario combined for five strikeouts in the circle.

EAGLES TAKE DOWN WEST VALLEY

NORTH COLLINS — Novalee Schlenker led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run and Cate Ayers opened the fourth inning with a home run as North Collins powered its way past West Valley 29-14 in five innings of Division 2 East action.

Isabelle Contro struck out three in the circle for the Eagles (3-6, 2-1).

Mara Swan hit a two-run home run for West Valley (0-6, 0-4).

WOLVES TOP PANTHERS

PANAMA — Janelle Burchanowski had four hits, including a triple, to lead Clymer/Sherman to a 15-3 Division 2 West victory over Panama.

Taylor Pinzok had three hits, including a double; Lily Martin tripled; and Elli Bodamer had two hits, including a triple, for the Wolves (3-2, 3-2).

Bodamer also went the distance in the circle, striking out nine while allowing seven hits and hitting a batter.

Jessica Lyon and Emma Cooper combined for nine strikeouts in the circle for Panama (2-2, 1-2). Sharayah Fuller had three hits, including a triple, while Corinne Hovey had two hits for the Panthers.

FARNHAM SHINES FOR PINE VALLEY

SOUTH DAYTON — Danica Farnham struck out 12 batters in a three-hit shutout as Pine Valley beat Brocton 9-0 in Division 1 East play.

The Panthers (1-4, 1-1) got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Brooke Dustin-McCoy scored on an error, then Farnham hit a double that scored two runs, and Olivia Lawton drew a walk and scored a run.

A single by Danielle West extended the Panthers lead to 7-0 in the bottom of the second inning.

Madison Sears struck out nine in the circle for the Bulldogs (1-4, 0-3). Hailey Carlson, Andrea Spiller and Paige Miller each collected a hit for Brocton.

GOWANDA POSTS WIN OVER HORNETS

GOWANDA — Emily Pound went 3 for 3 with a triple, two RBIs and scored twice to lead Gowanda past Forestville in Division 1 East action.

Lauren Kelly added another two hits and three RBIs for the Panthers (8-0, 3-0) while scoring twice herself, Hailey Christopher went 2 for 2 with a double and a RBI, Alhanna Gabel hit 2 RBIs, Addison Kota went 2 for 3 with a double and a RBI and Aubrie Heron hit a triple.

Kota gave up just two hits from the circle and struck out seven for the victory.

Forestville falls to 0-2 in the league and 2-2 overall with the loss.

EAGLES DOMINATE COUGARS

MAYVILLE — Cayzlee Johnson struck out all nine batters she faced in the circle and went 3 for 3 from the plate with three doubles and three runs scored as Chautauqua Lake defeated Cassadaga Valley 20-1 in Division 2 West.

Alice Scarpine went 3 for 4 with a double for the Eagles (5-1, 4-0), Kinslee Motter hit 3 for 4 with three runs and four stolen bases, Lucy Gates was 3 for 4 with a double, Eden Ludwig finished 3 for 3 and Karagan Fairbank was 3 for 4.

Cassadaga Valley falls to 0-4 in league and 1-4 overall with the loss.
